GenCon Indianopolis. Who's going? What events are you doing?

I’ll be there with my girlfriend doing tabletop RPGs and LARPs.

The Plan [tm] is to go up early on Friday, play one round of ADGNEPSEF555 (Advanced Dimensional Green Ninja-Educational Preparatory Super-Elementary Fortress 555) (The most awsomely fun anime-pastiche game EVER!), take in some lunch with friends, then prepare for the Friday night 7th Sea LARP. Then… Due to lack of crash space… Drive back home again. Then fall unconscious.

Thanks for reminded me to stay out of downtown this weekend! And I thought the whole purpose of LARPers was to give table-top gamers someone to look down on?

As someone who does both tabletop and LARP, I find LARPers to be typically more socially adept and generally in better physical shape than their tabletop counterparts.

There also seems to be a higher percentage of women in LARPs as opposed to tabletops.

However, I will say that an annoying LARPer is far more irksome than an annoying tabletopper.

YMMV.

My girlfriend and I are doing the Magma of Illusion and Courting Murder Family Reunion LARPs that day.

I am not going but I hope everyone who does has a great and safe time!

I wish I could go! I’d rock the Magic: The Gathering Vintage and Legacy world championships!

Just noticed this.

My girlfriend and I have two beds in our room at the Hilton. If you want to, you’re welcome to crash in the spare bed that night for an equal split of the room cost. (I’ll have to double check with her, though.) Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll clear it with her.

Dangit… I thank you for the offer, I really, really do, but in the meantime I made plans for Saturday back here in the Chi-town area. Your offer, though, is greatly appreciated.

You’re welcome.

Usually my girlfriend and I book early with an extra bed in case some of our friends decide to go at the last minute. (Most con rooms amount to Two Queen or One King bed.) Although, it’s yet to actually happen that they’ve gone, so the extra bed typically goes to waste.

We’re Chi-town area as well. She lives in the city proper, and I’m out in Huntley (not really by choice but it’s a long story that once the market picks up should be remedied and I can move into the city as well). I’m heading into the city in a few hours to pick her up and then we’re off to India No Place.

I’m going Saturday with a friend. Not participating in any events (though his son is supposed to be playing in the Warhammer tournament). Just wandering around the vendor areas and the gaming areas is enough fun for me.

I am pretty far removed from the gaming world these days, but I will be downloading and listening to this podcast.

I’m hoping I can get an idea of what’s going on in the world again.

My husband will be demoing and signing board games for which he did the artwork. Booth 1429, Wattsalpoag Games.

Damnit, I wish I’d known. Seriously, we’ll have to find a way to hook up next year. shakes fist at stupid non-gen-con friends who scheduled something for Saturday

Are you close enough you can game together? Or are you each full of games?

Idle comment. Move along.

Heh, well, I’m in the western 'burbs of Chicago, and I run a fair ammount of games.

Ha. You and me both…
Although If I’da known this in advance we could have tried to turn it into and Indy Doperfest. Maybe next year…

The wife and I play a lot of Guillotine.

Which game? Jet Set?

Hubby is the art director for Wattsalpoag, and did the art for Claim It!, Nomads of Arabia, and Jet Set. Quinton Hoover did the art for Fruit Fair as B&W which Hubby then digitally colored. (Yeah, I’m proud of him. So sue me!) Fruit Fair game makes me laugh, though, because he managed to capture my father as the planter without ever meeting the man. I don’t know if it was Hubby’s art direction for that image or not, but I’m still hoping to acquire that original for my personal collection.

Did you get a chance to stop by the booth an play any of the games?

Alas, didn’t make it to Gencon. One of these days, though…
