You go to a restaurant and order dinner. The food comes, you eat it. The waiter refills your water glass a little slower than you’d like, but otherwise the service is OK. You pay your bill and leave the restaurant, grabbing a mint on the way out. “Have a nice day,” the hostess tells you as you leave. Then you go home and post on a message board where the moderators are all a bunch of jerks. “Man, I should have stayed at the restaurant,” you think. “Maybe gotten a piece of pie or something.” Then a good movie comes on TV and you fall asleep on the couch in your underpants.
Left Hand, I think the point is, we still like this place for what it is, and since the good outweighs the bad, it’s worth it to try and work for change.
'Cause when comes down to it, it’s an entertainment. And part of that entertainment to me is the ability to interact and even complain if I so choose. I recognize common courtesy just fine, Captain Kiss-Ass. I also recognize toadying when I see it. Sometimes the latter wears the trappings of the former.
Your argument is so dizzyingly stupid that LHoD apparently won’t even take the time to respond to it, but to me it’s like an itch that must be scratched.
Thanking someone doesn’t mean that you believe they did something just for you. In fact, according to common courtesy, one should thank all kinds of people that are just doing their job.
