So was this episode the end of straight-acting Justin? I hope so.
And, assuming they continue dating, is this the beginning of a kinder sweeter Marc? I hope not.
I wonder if they’re ever going to tell what happened in Mexico. Obviously Ignacio didn’t get shot, but did the son kill his father (Ramiro)? I wonder if they’ll bring either character back. Evidently the son was either illegitimate or the son of a previous wife and not half-brother to Hilda and Betty.
My favorite part this week was the Widow’s Club, especially the one whose husband died on the cruise to Puerto Vallarta. “And they didn’t refund any of the money, but they don’t tell you that in the brochure!”
I’m getting a little bored of the Wilhelmina/Bradford plotline though. At the same time, I hope they work out a way to keep Yoga in the plotline because I love her, especially the way she’s gotten acclimated overnight to the Jet Set. “I’m so glad to hear you say we’re not going to France, because everyone is saying Montenegro is the new Monaco.”
I just feel sorry for Lorraine Toussant (sp?) Who’da thunk that she’d go from goody-two-shoes lawyer on Any Day Now to gangsta thugged-out prison butch? Not that she doesn’t have good lines (the pesci line cracked me up). But dayum!
[militant]Why do all the black people on the show have to be evil or crazy?![/militant]
I’m still loving the Willy/Brandford plot, but I’m getting tired of the Oh Henry! drama.
True, but in fairness the non-Hispanic white people fall into those camps as well (except Daniel, who’s more just spoiled and incompetent).
That one’s definitely dragging as well, but- was that really Christopher Gorham in his underwear in one scene? Because da-yumn, if it was boy hides a wonderful body under nerdy accountant wear.
To quote Justin over Octavia Spencer’s deranged social worker, Constance, last season, “I. Love. Her.” I’m hoping they’ll bring her back. My votes for how to do it:
1- Bradford decides he wants a new child since he’s disappointed in his first two. Willie fakes infertility because she hated what Nico did to her figure, so they hire a surrogate- unemployed Constance (who can fall in love with The Senator for extra measure).
or
2- The fake-gay black designer from last season can return with his coconut shell blouses now the hottest thing in the industry, but he’ll only let Mode have an exclusive if they’ll hire his unemployed cousin Constance
or
3- She can be UGLY BETTY’s version of Frank Nelson’s “Uh-yesssssssssssss!!!” man from SANFORD & SON and just show up randomly in assorted jobs.
I totally and completely have fallen in love with Marc/Cliff. Watching their scenes together, culminating in the footfight, gave me a combination of warm fuzzies, happy giggles and a lingering smile. And David Blue being ADORAFUCKINGBLE doesn’t hurt!
It’s never worked for me either. I might have missed an episode, but threads are hanging. I don’t understand Wilhelmina’s ambition. She has a good position, and even if her title isn’t the one she wants, she still has functional control of Mode, and a good life to boot. If Daniel’s that inept, why does Bradford keep him around? If Bradford’s so smart, why can’t he see through Wilhelmina? If Bradford hates Alex/Alexis, why is he being nice to her now?
When did Bradford divorce his wife? Did that happen while she was in prison?
Ugly Wanda doesn’t just want a “good position” and “functional control.” She wants everything that Fey Sommers had, including the reputation as an icon and a dictator of fashion. Being Editor-in-chief of Mode would allow her to fashion (so to speak) a legacy.
It’s not Bradford’s decision. Claire owns Mode and Bradford can’t remove Daniel (or Alexis) from the position.
He’s in love, or thinks he is. Wilhelmina is a master manipulator.
Following the car accident Bradford had something of an epiphany about Alexis. Having lost her once and almost losing her a second time he grew up and got over some of his transphobia.
Yes. He was hesitating about signing the papers, then Willie had Mark beat her up and said Claire hired a goon to do it.
Thanks, Otto. I had forgotten about Claire’s beating, and totally missed Bradford’s epiphany about Alex/Alexis.
I hope Claire doesn’t really go away and give up on Bradford. But it’d be fun to follow Claire and Yoga to Italy. Or Greece. Wherever she said they should go.
I like that Henry is fighting for Betty. I’m torn though – Rico is so much more lively than Henry.
I’ve got to be honest, I don’t know why I dislike him so much. I think it just appears to me that the actor is trying way too hard so the character just comes across as fake. I realize that fits in well with the style of the show, but for him it’s just offputting.
It’s too bad as I have enjoyed the actor in other things.
Okay, I can’t get on the Cliff bandwagon (in the PFLAG Parade). Sure, he seems like a nice guy, but what if he has used that whole “it would be like a fairy tale” line to hook up with a series of guys who are out of his league?
I don’t trust him around Marc, I think he’s moving too fast and Marc will be hurt…
