I agree. I think it’s great they’re showing a gay guy actually having a - you know - boyfriend and stuff. But I doubt the writers are going to let Marc off easy. He’s in for just as much drama and heartbreak as everyone else.
I also like the producers showing (in CLiff) that gay guys aren’t all faaaabulous fashionistas. They’re guys. WHo happen to be gay.
I also liked the fact that Justin’s family really wanted the old Justin back. They weren’t secretly hoping he was going to become some straight stud. THey love Justin for Justin, and want to see him being happy as himself. Besides, although no one’s really bring it up, Justin’s dad was really a kind of two-bit punk. Hildy and Justin deserved better. It was good he was beginning to change, but if I were Justin, I’d be mad about the previous 12 years his dad wasn’t realy there.

That’s the main thing I like about the Sarah Silverman show: her gay-couple neighbor-friends who are actually (GASP!) unattractive, couldn’t care less about decorating, and geeky!
I could take or leave Henry, but I do hope they show him shirtless before he goes just to see if that last shot was superimposed or not. Rico is no good for anybody- way too self-involved and finger-pointing.
Totally agree about Justin and his family. The Suarez Family is my new ideal for how a family should operate, and not just their tolerance for Justin: respect for parents, fun-loving, law abiding, hang together, etc…

You think? I think she tries way too hard to be pleasing. At least, to Daniel. Sure she could care less about what people think about the way she looks but there’s been a couple of times where she’s screwed over her friends and family for the sake of Mode or Daniel. At first it was charming but now it’s just off-putting.
There’s no one in this show that I find is completely without flaw.
I’ve been watching this show all along, but now I’m confused. Who’s Rico? Did I miss something?
Rico is this snarky little sandwich cart dude who showed up in one episode (last week?) and ended up driving Betty across town to pick up a special wheelchair…after Betty got him fired for complaining to management about his sandwiches.
He seems pretty independent and free-spirited, opposite of Walter and Henry. Betty was intrigued by him but she was still working out of her Henry mess.
There have been two characters I’ve recognized from the show Six Feet Under. The first was the sex therapist guy who got Daniel hooked on drugs - that was a one-off appearance, then Rico, whose sole purpose on the show may have been getting Betty into a writing class. We may never see him again.
I wonder if it’s just coincidence they were both from Six Feet Under, and if we’ll see any other actors from that show.
My bad. Actually, his character’s name is Gio. I was too lazy to look it up when I posted earlier. He was Rico on Six Feet Under for four or five years. He’ll always be Rico to 6FU viewers, probably.
My bad too. We probably shouldn’t be calling characters by their name in other shows. I just called him Rico because other people were and I was too lazy to look up what his name was on Ugly Betty, and assumed it was Rico.
I don’t believe Marc’s reaction. Schlubby guy upbraids him with a line like “he’ll look like me in 20 years; I just got there 20 years early.” Marc’s answer is most likely going to be “Call me in 20 years.”
Not that hottie model is going to look like that in 20 years or 50 years. Total false note.
And to confirm that Henry’s built, here’s how he looked back when he was Jake.
I’m positive I saw Gio in the previews for next week’s episode, so I don’t think he’s a one-off character

Wicked…on Ugly Betty…Gay Overload…
Okay, it’s official. I’m so much more in love with Gio. He was so yummy looking when he was teasing her about the tickets. She’s gotta throw over Henry for Gio, a man who’s hot and knows a good sammich.
I knew Marc was going to get all assy about Cliff. I KNEW IT! Yes, Marc honey. You beg. Because you REALLY screwed up.
And I actually felt sorry for Wili tonight. You ever notice that when you eavesdrop on conversations in the restroom you rarely hear anything nice about yourself?
And doesn’t have a pregnant girlfriend (that we know of).
My favorite Henry moment was when he compared himself to a female orangutan in estrus fighting off all beta males and Hilda’s response- “That would work better if you compared yourself to one of the male orangutans”.
ETA: I haven’t watched the episode yet (but I don’t mind spoilers)- do you get to see some of WICKED? Of course Rena Chenoweth (original Broadway cast Glinda) was on the show last season.
He does have a snarky little sister!
We get to see quite a bit of “Wicked.” We see parts of “Popular,” “I’m Not That Girl” and “Defying Gravity.”
And yup, that was awesome seeing her as the dental hygienist with a penchant for happy endings last season.
Ah- most ass tightening moment ever on the show (the WICKED appearance), if only because I’ve actually had similar moments in nightmares. And no surprise on the Marc+Cliff front- I just hope they don’t wrap it up too neatly because Marc isn’t going to date anybody that not-chic at this point of his life. Also no sympathy for Willi- she’s a terrible mother and a golddigger and she already knew it and had admitted as much.
History Geek meets Ugly Betty Geek- has anybody else noticed that Betty Suarez and Anne Boleyn wear the same necklace? I wonder if that’s intentional.
And I was surprised at how small a role they gave to Marlo Thomas. Perhaps she’ll be back, for any number of older actresses could have done that role in their sleep.
Aaaahhh… pity. I’m not the first to notice (though I swear I noticed it independently while watching the DVD of last season).
