generic cream of wheat?

Why is it i never see a generic or “house-brand” cream of wheat? Every grocery chain in the country seems to have generic oatmeal, but Cream of wheat seems to have a monopoly on the product.(Notable exception:Malt-O-Meal, but it’s still too expensive).

That’s because “Cream of Wheat” is a registered trademark of Nabisco. Try “quick cooking farina cereal”; it is the same thing (or close enough).

My personal WAG would be that grocery stores only offer house brands on the big sellers, and Cream of Wheat probably just doesn’t make the cut. Sorry.

I have seen something similar, called “cream of semolina” at Big Lots, a discount chain here in Florida. I actually had some last week, it is the same as “cream of wheat”
