George A Romeros Land of the Dead

Apparently Romero is riding his own zombie bandwagon:

Between this film, the other zombie film Undead (http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/undead/) and the recent Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later, Resident Evil Adnausium and the rest of the crappy zombie films have we not pretty much developed the zombie genre about as far as it can go?

Meh. None of the countless zombie flicks I’ve seen were any improvement on Night of the Living Dead (original version). That includes the additional works in the genre from Mr. Romero himself. A precious few were as entertaining, though in a different ways from Night. Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things, for example, doesn’t have the claustrophobic atmosphere that NOTLD has, but it does have some welcome humor.

People are still making vampire movies and with few exceptions most of them are full of the same tired old cliches. I’m sure there are other directions a zombie movie could go but movie goers might have some trouble accepting other versions of zombies. I heard a lot of pissing and moaning because the new Dawn of the Dead zombies could run instead of just shambling from place to place.

Truthfully I view zombie movies in the same vein as natural disaster movies like Earthquake or Towering Inferno. What makes a zombie movie entertaining is seeing the interaction of the characters with one another.
