Saxby Chambliss is…the filthiest peice of garbage you’re ever likely to come across."
Agreed.

“Well, do you really think that FGM is a big issue that legislators make a big fuss about in their campaigns? Most likely the voters didn’t even know about this.”
Nope, we sure as hell didn’t. The legislature of Georgia is conservative, because the population (in general) is uber-conservative. They weren’t exactly going to paste this across the front pages of all the papers.
Anyone have an extra room? My state government is beginning to make me sick. This is hardly the first time a ridiculous prop. has been passed without even a ‘by your leave’ to the voters. I’ll come back with cites later.
Regarding Bill Heath, I am quite sure that myself and a few other friends of mine could arrange a mass spread eagled viewing for him…
If this passes into law, it better not be retroactive… Durn thing’s been down there too long for me to take it out now. Stupid and icky - agreed. Getting cash on one’s 18th birthday may not be such a hot idea.
Actually, a huge number of people who did choose to live in Alabama are, strangely enough, military. (There are several major bases in the state and lots of folks stationed there retire there due to the very low property taxes and generally low CoL.)
::checks to see if this is the pit, YES it is::Oh god damn it, since when do military personel CHOOSE where to live? Granted, they can submit requests, but they do not CHOOSE where they are stationed. And I promise you, haveing been in the military, and being from Alabama, Alabama is not real high on the list of requested Duty stations. I can understand why people would live there, but your argument is silly.
Did you read the next sentence in Sampiro’s post? Here, let me point it out for you: “(There are several major bases in the state and lots of folks stationed there retire there due to the very low property taxes and generally low CoL.)”
The military can’t tell you where to live when you RETIRE. Sampiro was saying that a lot of military folks elect to live in Alabama after they end their military careers.
