Georgia senate runoff elections. Let’s debate and make predictions

Except apparently Trump pronounces “Kelly” as “Karen”

He called Loeffler “Karen” at the rally. Priceless

He was trying to say that she IS a “Karen”. :smiling_imp:

One thing about the board that makes me smile is how (R) becomes (R). I always initially think it’s some snark about the Republican being bought out.

BTW, if you do want to avoid that, put a \ before the closting parenthesis, like this (R\). And you make \ by making two backslashes (\\).

Now I have a mental image of her forgetting to bring the receipts when she shows up to return all those poor-people outfits she bought for the campaign and demanding to see the manager when the clerk won’t refund her money.

Correction. It worked in the preview, but it switched afterwards. So I’ll have to do a more convoluted way:

(R) , which is written as (R). And you get the & in that situation with &.

I certainly hope not for at least 50 years- you need to be dead to be on currency. We love Stacey and need her to hang around for some time.

Great wins for Team Blue! Who would have thought both GA seats go blue? Not me. I was thinking ME and NC were much better bets. Of course, the whack-a-doodles on FB are already posting how the election was stolen.

Easy: “these fraudulent Democrat wins in Georgia PROVE the election was rigged against me!”

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that you view a racist insider trader as a “positive ambassador for their state” and her opponent (the Baptist pastor) as a “hatemonger”…but then Democrats being accused of what Republicans are guilty of should be no surprise to anyone by now.

Wow. A few thoughts while I drink my coffee this morning:

Joe Manchin is the happiest man in America right now. What do you suppose McConnell is offering him to cross over – Appropriations Chair, unlimited campaign dollars, the pick among his granddaughters? And if he stays a Democrat, he can use that as leverage with Schumer to get what he wants.

Even if Warnock and Ossof’s wins are confirmed, the Senate can by a majority vote refuse to seat a member if they decide he was not “duly elected.” Republicans still have the majority right now, but I’m hopeful that Collins, Romney and a few others would not go along with this maneuver.

It will be very interesting how this election is interpreted going forward. Does this show Republicans that maybe there ARE electoral repercussions to jumping on the Trump crazy train?

Christmas miracle!

That was a crazy ride.

Well, I wouldn’t be attending any weddings at Joe’s place any time soon.

You cannot express my joy at reading this whine in mere words. Cry some more, Argentina!

That’s very common in campaign ads. If you are white you will also look darker. Campaign ads tend to cast the opponent in harsh tones for obvious reasons.

Nice use of ‘joinder’ there.

The joke I made up was that if Republicans wanted to sue to win a close election in court, it would hurt the case if too many Republicans voted. It got a couple dozen retweets, but otherwise didn’t get much traction.

Tip: Your predictions will be more reliable if you base them on reality.

I’m not sure what thread it was in, maybe this one, but I predicted that the Democrats in this race would “pull a South Carolina,” i.e. poll even or slightly ahead, but when the voting happened for real, they would both lose comfortably. Hot damn, I have never been more happy to have been so dead wrong! Woooohoooo - I am dumb!!

PS. Stacey Abrams should get the Presidential Medal of Freedom within Biden’s first 100 days.

You obviously have a different Dope habit than I do.

So when is it “casting your opponents in harsh tones” and when is it “hatemongering”? And which was it when you referred to “Anti-semitism, spousal abuse, child abuse”?

And is making the noses of Jewish opponents bigger, also common in campaign ads?

Sure, it’s called pinocchioing. Everyone does it.
