Loeffler is an odious senate candidate but I kinda’ wish we’d drop the KKK angle and focus on other things. I think it’s likely she had no idea who Doles was at the time. It is definitely a black mark that Doles was (apparently) supporting Loeffler so strongly but the attacks go farther than that. Making such a big deal of a dubious claim allows people like agzem to ignore Loeffler’s real faults.
My wife and I, here in California, decided to do our bit in both the General and the Runoffs, by hand-writing postcards encouraging get-out-the-vote. We sent y’all in Georgia a raft of annoying mail, and for that I’m sorry… but it was for a good cause.
Here’s an election tracker from the NYTimes for the Ossoff race. Axios and Business Insider already called the race for Ossoff. AP has not yet called it.
Warnock has been declared victor by just about all the news outlets I’ve seen.
Last I heard from Kornacki, the totals from some of the mail in ballots might not be counted until Wed. afternoon. And then there’s the military and provisional ballots on Friday. They estimate that to be around 17K so I doubt they’ll wait that long to call the race.
We just assumed that since you’ve demonstrated yourself openly willing to present spurious, unsubstantiated allegations about a candidate, you’d be fine with us doing the same.
Old-line media sources probably want to at least see Ossoff’s lead surpass the automatic recount threshhold (0.5%). Right now, Ossoff has 50.1932% of the vote (2,211,603 out of 4,406,181). Once he surpasses 50.25%, the election will more likely be called.
Actually, what Railer13 posted was accurate, the mistake of Ossoff was to claim that the Klansman campaigned with her. There is no direct evidence of the KKK campaigning with her.
Now, thing is that I’m getting really, really tired of Republicans being so naive about the crowd they are attracting until others notice that they are mingling with unsavory people.
That might be a good topic for another thread - at what point do texts, emails, and such, start having the opposite effect of putting off the voter? I’m a yellow-dog liberal Democrat, and there was no question about how I would vote; but the near-constant flow of emails, texts, and phone calls from various progressive and Democratic groups (I was getting about four texts and 10 emails every damn day for the past three weeks) really began to piss me off. Started sending short, irritated responses and blocking numbers.
That’s one result which I’ll never accept. Canada won, everyone knows it; and I’ve hired “Charm-juggler” Giuliani to contest that in your court system.
I predict that on day one of the new session he unilaterally offers co-majority-leader status to Mitch in the spirit of bipartisanship, cooperation, and abject preemptive surrender.
I had to block some groups’ emails, as they were getting quite rude. (alleging it would be my fault if the Dems didn’t pull this off because I had neglected to donate to this particular organization). Fuck that. It was clear to me that both candidates in this race had a sufficient budget to mount their campaign. Another million or two wouldn’t change the results.
Our most important deadline is coming up – and we’re almost totally BROKE.
[This is a DISASTER if it doesn’t get fixed before December 31st.]
Procrustus, we could end Mitch McConnell’s Senate Majority FOREVER!
But only if we replenish this account SOON. [We’re begging you to chip in $5 now:]
