Get Acquainted with another Doper, starting with maidenunicorn41 and lurkernomore....

I forgot to mention to Serendipity and Racinchikki that my family is in Oneonta, which is upstate, too. At least that 's what I was always told.

Do they consider that upstate?

I consider Oneonta upstate! I"m not COMPLETELY sure I know where it is, but I know I’ve heard of it. I’ll ask my dad when he comes home – he used to go out there a lot.

I think that suggestion comes about 25 years too late. It’s already strained, sprained, and down the drain.

I’d consider Oneonta upstate, maidenunicorn. (By the way, that’s such a pretty user name!) Oneonta is a little south and a fair distance west of Albany.

Do you know what I just realized, racinchikki? If you’re in the Capital Region, our high schools have probably played one another. Who knows, we might have even met and not known it.

(((((((Mauve Dog)))))

This sort of breaks my heart, my friend. Have you tried to FIND them? They may be as much in need of you, as you may be in need of them. Family is important, IMHO.

Well, I don’t think so. And you shouldn’t think so, either. Chit-chat threads are how you get to know people, and you have just as much to offer as anyone else. Try it~you may find that you like it.

Well, sweetie, all of my favorite men BECAME my favorite men because we interacted in those “chit-chat” threads, and moved into email. You have to understand that people are only going to “warm up” to you if you try. I can tell that you have much more to give than you think you have,. Try it, you might find that other people value you more than you think.

In the meantime, you have my sympathy and loving wishes. AND BTW, I went to your website, and you are an attractive man. Trust me.

Scotti

Sorry, luv~

What I really MEANT to say is that your novel is not easily catagorised, and that it wouldn’t be easy to summarize it in “short form”, posting on the board. Therefore, since you have already agreed to allow me the honor of reading it, I will be happy to write a report for all of the interested dopers.

Unless I hate it, of course, in which case I will have a serious quandry. But I’m willing to bet I am going to LOVE it, so this will most likely not be a problem.

I await the arrival of your novel with anticipation!

Hugs~

Cheri

If you hate it, ten thousand people are gonna know…

Ahhh…I’m getting stomach cramps.

Don’t sweat it sweetheart!

You know me well enough to know that I will find a way to put a postive spin on it.

Not that I think it will be necessary, you understand. I expect to love it, and you know I NEVER lie!

I’m assuming this was directed at someone else, since I don’t have a website…

(The website I linked to was the University of California’s Museum of Paleontology, of all things - and even then, I’m only responsible for the one drawing, not the content.)

Wy, the NYC metro area has nearly half the population - they debate whether WESTCHESTER is upstate…

(Westchester is the county immediately north of The Bronx (the NYC line) - means probably 95% of the land in the state is “upstate”)

We won’t hold it against you.

Ed, thanks for the info. Also, glad you will not hold it against me.

Whats been up? Havent heard from you lately? :frowning: Hope to hear some more from you. Cant get to know you if we dont talk.

If you talk approvingly of how it helps cure insomnia or something, I swear I’ll scream.

S’depity, What gave you the idea that you don’t look good??
damn, you look fine, girl!{insert chants of “Go, 'Depity, its your birthday” here ;)}

anyway, Dream Job would have to be owning a Car Crushing lot. In fact, once I win the lottery, I plan on starting one. I mean, there must be nothing more satisfying than crushing a car into a tiny cube…

favourite flavour of Snapple, I’m sorry, I have never drank Snapple, but If it came in a mixed Red Berries flavour, that would be my favourite.

Middle name? Paul.
My turn!!

I would like to know:

  1. Hot Chocolate or Ice cold Soda?
  2. name you wish you had been called?
  3. Favourite actress in a supporting role?
  4. Last thing you accidently set fire to?

My middle name is Yi, that’s my mom’s maiden name but it sounds atrocious next to Tracy, so I use my maiden name, Tate as my middle name now.

I get bored very easily, so my dream job would be going around doing other people’s jobs for a week or two. I hate doing the same time all the time. Ugh.

To be honest, I don’t like any Snapple, my favorite soft drinks are water, unsweetened ice tea (has to be home-made) and Coca Cola.

Random Trivia: I’ve had the chicken pox twice. I’m afraid of heights. My favorite colors are gray, green and purple.

Anything else you need to know, or is that enough to base a friendship on?

And everyone is right, you are cute!

Well, here it goes:
I’m 27
live in Ct.
am married with 1 daughter
I’ve been lurking around the SDMB for about a year
my current hobbies are playing hockey and seeing
live music

Well, thats all I can think of at 4:30…
Its nice to meet you all…

Nice to meet you blur. Welcome to non-lurking status.

And now for my answers to Twisty’s questions…

Hot chocolate or ice cold soda? Neither, really. I prefer a hot chocolate/coffee hybrid or a lukewarm strawberry soda with cream, both of which can be found at Uncommon Grounds in Saratoga Springs, NY. (I’m going home this weekend, so I can stock up on strawberry syrup! Yay!)

Name you wish you had been called? That’s a tough one. I sort of like my name (Jessica) as it is, even though just about every other girl born in '81 was also named that. (My little sister’s name is Ashley, so you can see that my parents weren’t really big on creativity.) Back when I aspired to being an author and having a gajillion kids, I kept a list of my favorite names – none of which are coming back to me at the moment, of course. I like the names Sophie and Emma and Aisling and Lucinda, but I’m not sure if I would want to be called any of those.

Favorite actress in a supporting role? For movies, Cate Blanchett in The Talented Mr. Ripley. For television, either Allison Janney in The West Wing or Melissa Leo in Homicide: Life on the Street.

Last thing you accidently set fire to? My lab partner’s hand in 11th grade chemistry, although, to be fair, it was sort of indirectly. I told him that after spilling a beakerful of water onto my lab notebook, it was his responsibility to work the bunsen burner. Is it my fault that we had defective equipment? Everything else that I’ve set fire to has been on purpose. (Wow, that makes me sound like a pyromaniac!)

Now, Twistydear, you have to answer your own questions!

tater, that seems like enough to base a friendship on – I think I know less about some of my friends in real life.

  1. Hot Chocolate or Ice cold Soda? Hot Chocolate. Ice cold soda cools you down on a hot day, but Hot Chocolate on a cold day sets a mood.
  2. name you wish you had been called? Jason. don’t know why, but like the name.
  3. Favourite actress in a supporting role? Christina Ricci in Last of the High Kings. the film that started my “thing” for Christina. Also noticeable for the fact that she dosent have a permanent scowl on her face.
  4. Last thing you accidently set fire to? My Chin. doing a stunt with Sambuca that nearly went horribly horribly wrong. here’s a hint. Never try to set fire to sambuca while its in yout mouth. Leave it in the glass

Sorry, dead PC at home, (probably power supply) jammed up at job(may have to kill someone today). I wish i could get to know you better. Hopefully the cloud will lift in a day or two…
