Hi dpr,
My favorite author is Margaret Atwood, I think my short stories tend to be in that vein, for better or worse. I’m not sure I’d have the patience to structure a good mystery novel. I had a box full of 2-3 page shorts revolving around a teenage girl, but unfortunately my ex-roommate’s completely undisciplined cat had her way with them, and there only seem to be a couple of survivors. That sort of threw me off for a bit, but I hope to start over again soon. I think my last rainy day mystery was Billy Straight by Jonathan Kellerman. I’m currently reading the latest Harry Potter book, and my sister’s boyfriend is trying to convince me to take another stab at Confederacy of Dunces. I’ve started it twice, but stopped at the same page both times and never gotten around to picking it up again. It’s not that I didn’t like it, I guess it just didn’t compel me enough to pick it up again. I finally threw out the last Anne Rice book that did that to me (Feast of All Saints) and I’m on the fence about the Dunces.
There’s a good question for you…what is the last book you thought you would like that you stalled out on?
Here’s some more random stuff…Last CD purchase - Joan Osborne’s Righteous Love, it has become my new favorite dance-around-the-living-room-in-my-bathrobe music.
It also just occurred to me that Mauve Dog could show himself at SeaDiver’s dopefest on 12/2, and I could tell you all how cute he is!
