Get me hooked on TV series.

My TV aerial died a while ago and will only pick up SBS (foreign language TV mostly). I have no idea how long it will be before it is fixed (I am renting) so I started renting DVDs of TV shows I haven’t seen.

So far I have managed to get hooked on Rescue Me, I will start series 2 next week; and Entourage.

What else is out there?

If it’s available in Australia on DVD, try the Sci-Fi remake of Battlestar Galactica, here in the States we’re into Season 3 now, so you have S1 and S2 to catch up on

why not try another sci-fi series while you’re at it, made in Australia in fact, Farscape, that ran for four seasons before the sci-fi channel unceremoniously killed it, a 4 hour miniseries was made about a year later (Peacekeeper Wars) to tie up some of the loose ends

Have you watched The Sopranos? That should be your first stop.

In addition to The Simpsons, I’m a fan of House MD, Criminal Minds, and especially Prison Break.

Firefly.
Undeclared.

And remember, Netflix is your friend.

The Wire. The only decent dramas I’ve seen recently have all been HBO series, and the Wire is the best of those. Deadwood and the Sopranos are excellent as well.

The new Dr. Who is really good.

Two words: The Shield

Seconded. If you haven’t seen it, go rent Firefly. Right now.

Why are you still sitting there? GO!

Boston Legal (a must for any Trek/Shatner fan!)
NCIS
And another vote for Criminal Minds.

Another vote for Firefly, Deadwood, and The Shield. Also Veronica Mars and an older show, American Gothic (but the DVD doesn’t have the episodes in their proper order).

Have you already seen Buffy and Angel?

The Closer and The 4400.

Babylon 5…but go ahead and skip most of the first season. Wathc the first ep to get a feel for the characters, watch ‘Babylon Squared,’ and then watch the last two of the season, then go right into season 2.

I’d say Veronica Mars, 24, and Supernatural.

(You have to be willing to give Supernatural a chance beyond the goofy premise.)

I second The Shield and Deadwood, and would also like to recomend Rome.

Can you get Six Feet Under? I’m still working my way through the series on DVD, but it’s pretty good.

I’m on season 2 of the series 24. I ignored all the silly hype for a long time, but when I finally checked it out it’s actually kinda fun, and definitely a show to watch on DVD. The tension-filled weekly cliffhangers would drive you nuts, otherwise.

Another vote for The Shield.

Sportsnight and the first 4 seasons of The West Wing are fantastic. The best show on TV is The Wire. I second Firefly.

The Venture Bros. Season One is now available on DVD.

Cockpits! Boobytraps!
I concur.
