Irking from home. I reached out to a member for some business stuff, and received an automated reply from my contact saying she’s no longer with the company. We have a few new members that I need to contact to see if they would be interested in our Data Contribution program. The contact on the first one I looked up was the woman I’d tried to reach earlier!
I need to go to the hardware store today to get a couple of pressure-treated two-by-fours to stack the firewood on. The snow, which isn’t sticking, is supposed to stop soon; and it does appear to be petering out. Moving the wood to the back yard is going to be a slippery mess. The path is mushy, and the grass is giving way to mud where I wheel the wheelbarrow.
Crap, crap crap… The universe needs to keep things in balance, so my good review is negated by news on the beast within. The diverticulitis has not improved, so it needs to come out before getting worse. Waiting for the surgery scheduler to call me.
There was an extended moment of panic when I realized the form they want TO-FUCKING-DAY isn’t online, and was supposed to have been mailed to me (?!?) but I called, and actually got through to a helpful admin, who became Super Helpful as soon as it was clear that I wasn’t calling to yell at her.
She walked me through cobbling a hand-written version of the form they want (confirming my identity, for pandemic assistance $ I applied for back in October thankyouverymuch) and I have now submitted the form.
Go me.
Monkey has curled into my lap and is being a Very Handsome Boy Indeed, in addition to purring in triumph for me.
Or he wants me to crack open a can of gooshy-food. Smart money goes to the food begging, but at least he’s a sweetheart about it.
I have an appointment at 3:30 that it’d be nice to have showered for in advance. So that is next on the agenda. But I can relax a bit, for I have accomplished the crappy stuff.
Oh, and there’s a hunk o’cow already prepped in the fridge.
The boiler people have left (having dragged the broken old boiler onto the street, in bits, and scrawled ‘free’ on the side- optimism is a fine thing), but it’s not actually fixed, which probably means more noise tomorrow. Oh well, at least it should mean people stop using the annoying fan heaters, which resonate through the floor- I’m just a bit concerned that I’m supposed to have at least one online meeting, and it’d be nice to have the option of hearing it, y’know?
I took advantage of living in a city again, and summoned magickal internet food. Japanese noodles this time; t’was good, but I’m glad I had a discount offer, or it would have been a bit expensive for the quantity.
Surprised they didn’t keep it for the scrap value. Around here, the scrappers will gladly take boilers, pipe, old garden sheds, appliances, etc. Just leave them curbside and <poof!> it’s gone. A few weeks ago I tried to give away a working microwave on Nextdoor. At least two dozen people responded to see if it was still available. None actually showed up, so it went to the end of the driveway. Half hour later, it was gone.
The RoxStar has departed with her parents, so peace reigns again! It was nice enough outside that she got to play on her swingset for a bit. Then I got my daughter to log me into Disney+ on the basement TV - she shares that account with me, I share Netflix with her. I also found out that since she and I share her Prime account, I automatically have a subscription for a FireStick TV. So a-shopping I will go!
But first I have to feed Higgs - she’s apparently starving to death, even tho suppertime is 10 minutes away.
Howdy Y’all! The rain went away this afternoon, so provisions were procured and church janitor Junior Warden stuff got done. Well, mostly done. I need to do a walk through the buildin’s and check out stuff. Didn’t want to do that today. I do need to go back on Firday to drag the biiiiiiiiiiig trash can back up to where it stays. so I’ll do that then. Sup also got cooked and et. Thus was Hump Day.
gotti yay on the review and boo on the surgery. Hope that gets done soonest.
shoe yay for doin’ the thing!
nettie not goin’ in today was a good call.
wordy yay for your mom gettin’ the vaccine. Can’t wait (though I have to wait) for my second shot.
Evening all. Dinner had been consumed and dishes are in the washer, which probably will get run on Firday. Rain never showed up and it’s supposed to stay dry until Sattiday.
Red, hope it was butter pecan…
{{gotti}}, hope all goes well surgically speaking. And good news on the review.
shoe, apparently admin folks can be helpful…who knew? And you done your good deed for the month–albeit it might not have been the most sensible thing (but if you knew him…)
Bumba, rambling is fun. And doesn’t your yard look a bit…lumpy…what with the bird graves all about??
DieC, wonder what the rinse was. Never have had it here.
OK, still need to do some readin’ and internettin’. All y’all take care.
I went to the hardware store and got two 8-foot pressure-treated two-by-fours and put them on the deck. I moved five wheelbarrows of firewood to the back yard and stacked it on the two-by-fours. The five loads made about six rows, about 2 ½ feet high. There’s about 3 or 4 feet by about 3 feet stacked in the catio for (relatively) immediate use. I guess there are about three wheelbarrows left to move, but I was interrupted by pizza. Mrs. L.A. ordered an all-meat pie (on my credit card) and a Mediterranean salad. I ate half of the salad (she didn’t want any) and two slices of pizza. And I’m on my third glass of wine. After that, I’ll be out of wine. Might have to have tequila.
As expected, the snow was short-lived and didn’t stick. Next chance of snow will be Monday the 8th.
I survived my day despite one close call. I was crossing an exit from a parking lot. The street cars turn onto had heavy traffic, so there was going to be a long wait for cars to turn onto it. I crossed in front of an SUV and was literally smack dab in the middle when the driver either decided to go (again, no traffic opening) or thought it’d be a swell time to play Nudge the Pedestrian. I admit I screamed. Once safely past, I started to cry–not because I’m a wimp but …well, it doesn’t matter why. I walked 6 miles altogether and encountered some very considerate motorists and several friendly pedestrians, so there’s that.
Gotti, damn, that’s hard. Please let us know when the surgery is to occur. I’ll be thinking of you.
Red, I hope they were nice photos and not, you know, pictures I could sell to aardvarks looking for a good time.
shoe, good for you for getting that done. Yay, you! This calls for a celebratory…joint or something.
I checked my email. Sibling #1 is having major issues with her son. I call her. I’m the only one besides her who’s in touch with her son, who has…issues. While I’m discussing the situation, Sibling #2 calls wanting my take on the whole thing. He’s in a later time zone, so I hang up with #1 and take the call from #2. He’s worried and frustrated. I calm him down and call #1 back to help her gain perspective so she can sleep. In case you wondered how I can spend so much time on the phone, this is why.
I’m thinking I’d like to be a bartender. Probably any advice I could give would do no more good than a vodka rocks or a dirty martini. Also, I like polishing glasses.
