Get Money with this one trick from The Bible

Many of us have probably seen this ad. I have never clicked on it for fear of going to some malevolent website but I am as curious as anybody else. My understanding of the Bible is that material wealth is frowned upon, at least if it blocks our path to God. So I am asking people on this forum, has anyone here clicked on that ad about a “trick” in the Bible helping you to earn money? What is that ad all about?

I clicked it some time back but it’s similar to “the 6 foods you should never eat” site in that there’s a lot of stuff talking about what you’ll learn but never actually giving any real information.

From what I gleaned it’s a form of “prosperity gospel” with some calculations that are every bit as reliable as the ones used to calculate the world was going to end last year.

Any preacher who preaches that God wants you to be rich and the way to prove that is to send them money - and in return God will give you more money, is a scam artist. Robert Tilton excelled at this scam until he was exposed on 20/20. But some people at rock bottom will believe anything if they think it will help.

I wonder if its a weird trick or just a regular trick.

The business model is simple: Tell yokels that you’ll give them valuable information if they send you money, then take their money, then give them just barely enough useless information that you won’t be found guilty of fraud. Often, the “money-making trick” they send to their victims is “Tell a bunch of people that you have a money-making trick, and charge them to find out what it is”.

That’s always the trick. Fear of prosecution doesn’t really enter into it, since if they’re breaking the law, so are their victims.

It’s the same deal with the diet trick, energy saving trick or whatever else. The “product” doesn’t really matter, and may not even exist. It’s just a carrier wave for a pyramid scheme.

Sounds like this

My chief concern is whether or not it was originally discovered by a house wife.

Is she a local housewife, and are dentists angry with her?

Yes, and she makes $4862 every week by working at home for 2 hours.

Nice to see God is now getting a cut.

Back when I was living in the Bible Belt, He always got left out of the action - some devotee, you got there, dude!

But yeah, it used to appear in low-end newsweeklies and other cheap advertising.
It was $5, and you got instructions to “make up an add like mine, put it in publications like the one you saw it in”.

I checked into it as far as I could stomach the absurdity. Some dude claims that the bible is the key to prosperity and if you give him a few bucks, he’ll point out the passages in the bible that will make you rich and how to interpret them.

Because, like, everyone else has missed them.

In other news, the same dude is offering the Brooklyn Bridge for a !today only! discount.

Hey, I could use a bridge! How much is the discount?

I didn’t pay the fee, so you’ll have to find it in the bible yourself. I’m sure it’s in there somewhere. Those ancient goat herders were incredibly smart, you bet.

I’ll do it for free.

Just agree to sell out your best friend and/or mentor for 30 shekels. Easy money!

Follow the path of the ‘Bible Students’* - sell bibles.

*formerly ‘Bible Students’, now Jehovah’s Witnesses - although there are still some that follow the original books by Russell …

Unfortunately it turns out the key passage is Joel 3:3.

<golf clap> Bravo!

Or an old trick. Or a weird, old trick.

How the Bible says to accumulate wealth:

  • Don’t live beyond your means.
  • Save for a rainy day.
  • Invest wisely.
  • Be generous to the less fortunate.
  • Tithe.
  • Don’t be a slave to it.

And if you donate to my PayPal account, I can have the most pious person I know pray for your prosperity.
