Getting back into your groove in the MMP

I’m home, unpacked, and most stuff is put away. Laundry is done (on Sunday? But laundry day is Firday!!!) And today’s main plan is restocking the fridge and pantry, with maybe some freezer stuff for good measure. But after a full month, it’s weird how many little things I had to stop and think about. Like “Oh, yeah, Ziva gets treats in the evening.” Or “Do I set this timer for 17 minutes or 19?” Nothing earth-shaking, but things that were automatic now aren’t.

When your routine has been thrown off, whether by extended travel, long-term guests, change in work schedule, or whatever, do you struggle to slip back into the old ways? Or is it just me as old age takes its toll?

FWIW. Mel granted me about 8 anna half hours of sleep last night - I feel almost normal!!

Happy Moanday!!

First! Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 19c/67f with a predicted high of 21c/70f and rain showers. Weather app says “I fucking hope you like the smell of wet dog. Fucking gross.” It’s only a 17% chance of precipitation, and should dry up around 3pm.

Coming back from a trip usually means I give myself a day to do the laundry and grocery shopping and then it’s back to work as usual. Catching up with jetlag means I am tired when I shouldn’t be, and awake when I ought to be sleeping!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 77 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 99 and sunny for the day. I foresee some quality cee-mint pond time this mornin’ and maybe early afternoon. Depends on how soon it gets too hawt. Also, a cheesecake is bein’ made for my bday, which is tomorrow. Sup will be chili/cheese/onion/slaw dawgs and oven fries. Fartfest to follow.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Good MMorning! It’s wet outside, and 76F, headed to a Heat Advisory-worthy 89F. If you’re a Celsian, you know the conversion drill. I remembered to start an MMP, even though the reminder I thought I had installed on my phone has not shown up. Oh, well.

Happy Birthday, Swampy!

I have many things to do, and not enough time to remember what they are.

Happy almost Birthday, Swampy! Today is my best friend’s birthday. Hard to believe she is 78.

Welcome home, FCM!!

I am just about ready to head to Aldi’s. Gotta get some necessary items, plus a few that just sound good! Then back home to work on my office area.

Back from CVS/Food Lion run - I was done at both before 8 because I started just after 7. Go me! Except I forgot eggs, dammit. But I want to go to Aldi, so I’ll get some there.

Heading to at least the mid-90s today. I don’t plan to venture out much more.

Speaking of the groove - FCD drove us home and adjusted everything in my car. I think I got it all back where it needs to be. If I didn’t have such issues with night driving, I’d have brought us home myself. As it was, he nearly passed 3 of our turns - not sure if it was fatigue or that everything in the boonies looks different at night.

OK then - it may be time to go somewhat reddish in the hair department. I googled dye-before-or-after-cut and the majority seems to think when going from long to short hair, you should dye first. So I shall. If it sucks, well, it’ll grow out and fade anyway. And it’s just hair, right?

As soon as FCD is done in the shower, let the games begin!!

Oh, yeah – it’s Monday again. Repeating the post I made a few minutes ago in last week’s MMP, it’s 77 Ferret Height/25 Centipedes, heat index 78/26, humidity 100%. Predicted high 90/32, and the heat advisory starting at 1100 has been extended until 2000 Wednesday. Bleah. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate summer?

You should move to a cooler area. Like New England. Oh, wait…

Morning all. Slept until 6am when the Bladder Alert sounded so got up and have started the week. Only major event planned is my semi-annual dental cleaning/checkup tomorrow at 1pm. There is also some soccer ‘jamborees’ to get the Fall season started (just letting one of the age group of kids come out and have fun kicking it around for an hour) so I might drop by the fields. Otherwise nothing much of consequence. It’s 81F already and heading to 94F with a 1-in-4 chance of rain. Summer in N. Ali-bama…

FCM, it usually takes me a day or two to readjust, some of my ‘usual’ things, like Firday shopping or Monday sammiches at Jersey Mikes, get postponed or happen on other days, but I live such a mundane life that it doesn’t take me that long to get back to normal (for various degrees of normal). And bet the new hair color will look fine; just wish I had enough to mess with…

swampy, your B’day isn’t until tomorrow, so I’ll do the (in)appropriate celebrating then.

Sticky Buns, best wishes to best friend; the years never stop accumulating, I fear.

Herald, that is a bit warm. Take care.

Cookie, enjoy the visit and the pie (what’s your favorite?).

And off to continue the morning internettin’. Need to catch up on some Webcomics that publish on Moandays. Have a good week all.

A pretty wild thunderstorm blew through here last night. At least it was straight-line wind and no tornado warnings. Gotta check the tomato plant later to see how it fared.

Tomorrow we head south to meet up with the niece in Red Wing to pick up our pies and have lunch. Stockholm Pie Company (in Stockholm, WI) makes the best pies and has maintained quality since we first accidentally discovered them back in 2009 when they were in a tiny space in a tiny town, pushing a slice of homemade pie through a window to you. They now take up most of the town’s small main street, but still put out killer pies. They have a pick-up location in Red Wing, hence our plans for tomorrow.

I’ve done this color several times in the past, but it’s been some years. The best part is, apart from working with my coloring, it fades back into my natural hair color without the dramatic line between dye and natural. Honestly, I’m too much of a coward to try green or purple or blue. Because reasons.

OK, he’s out of the shower and in his recliner, so I’ll have at it.

What happened to the ability to quote within a reply? I get “block quote” then nothing.

Herald. I HATE SUMMER. We will stand in solidarity against heat, sun, and hoomidity.

Replying to myself. The speech bubble for quoting is now hidden under the + sign in the toolbar at the top of the reply box.

Well, my hair is done and drying. I don’t own a hairdryer, so I’ll see what color it is once Mother Nature sucks the wet out of it. Or the a/c does - whatever.

FCD has gone to deal with boat stuff. He was trying to snooze a bit more this morning without luck. So he gave up and now he’s off to see the completed tanks and get on the schedule at the marina. I’m running the ice maker and I should probably figure out what to thaw for supper. Meals were easier when all we had to do was saunter to the buffet. < deep sad sigh >

I should probably do some rollsuckage.

I haven’t been posting my quilts lately. I need to get good pictures. Meanwhile, this is Sunflower’s newly finished quilt:
Quilting on the long arm:

two views of it on our bed:

She does beautiful work

Gorgeous!

She also married well.

That quilt is a work of art!

My hair, on the other hand, isn’t what I’d hoped for. I don’t see any reddish highlights - it just looks a bit browner than it was. Dammit. I’m wondering if they changed the formula from what I used to use. That’s highly likely. Dammit.

First world problems…

So I was on the 100 Table first. Which was a mess, because Unload started 15 minutes before the first sorter was scheduled, and the loaders came in 30min after that. And there were a couple of bulk orders, like 20-25 25"25" boxes, so everything backed up. There were a few heavy loads(200+ pieces), but most of the package cars had less than 100 pieces. And dispatch cut 3-4 routes, and added all those to the overloaded cars, plus we had to unload and rescan all the stuff on the cars that we loaded Saturday. I had to finish a couple of sets, and do the retapes, so I was there till 930. But I got gas for Carmen, and did my weekly Aldi run. Fred the spider was in the shower, and he Itsy Bitsy-ed himself into Davey Jones’ Locker while I was shampooing myself. So now Spot and I shall nap.

< tucks FCM into rocker, and slips Matlock tape into the VCR >
Just you. And Spot is unhappy with change.

Wet dog isn’t bad. Wet farting dog is awful.

Happy Birthday to her! :birthday_cake:

She does indeed!

Should have gone purple.

I liked summer as a child, but 100+ temps bite.

In my case, combining newly aquired RDOS status with a long distance move, I think completely establishing a new groove is in order.

Mooooom, if you’re hesitant to do anything drastic, Jon Frieda
makes some excellent products to gradually ease into the color and then, once you tire of it, ease back out. I’ve done both the radiant red (shampoo and conditioner) and the shear blonde with good results. You have no touch ups, since you are essentially reapplying with every shampoo and they are quality products that don’t do damage to your hair

That she does! (and you don’t do so bad yourself  )

No excavation at the dentist this morning, just a 'scrip for antibiotics for a small mouth ulcer.

The move is now set for sometime between 15 and 17 Aug for move out and 3-12 days later for delivery (the actual dates will be confirmed the week before). Three more weeks!

I’ll be so glad when this is over.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
