Several times today when I clicked on a thread, it would open a new tab and log me out. Seems to only be happening in this forum. Any thoughts? Threads? Recipes? Loose change?
Haven’t had any problems here. What OS, browser, etc? Classic advice would be to clear your cookies.
Thanks. I’ll try that. As I said, it only happens [del]sporcapitally[/del], [del]sporrifically[/del], [del]consanguinally[/del], um … every now and then.

Every damn time I EVER have ANY trouble of ANY sort with ANY web site for ANY reason, the knee-jerk advice is ALWAYS to clear your damn cookies. (Although, to be sure, if they are chocolate chip cookies as Digital is the new Analog’s link seems to suggest, my first knee-jerk solution would always be to eat them. )
Why not just suggest FDISK and then try again?
When I was working customer support, that was always our first advice. Okay, not really, but it was our in-house joke that it should always be our first advice.
Yes, I have sporadic log-in trouble here on SDMB too, which always seems to happen more often at about the same times that other users start complaining more often about various problems. And guess what? The knee-jerk advice has always been to clear all my damn cookies. Or sometimes to check all my browser settings. (Check for what???) Yes, I ALWAYS clear my cookies and cache – pretty much every time I go from one site to another, whenever I close my browser, and of course whenever I have problems. It never really seems to make much difference. (Although it’s hard to tell, with problems that happen intermittently.)
When multiple users start reporting site problems at about the same time, all of whom had been running merrily along without problems before, the answer ISN’T to clear your cookies or cache. (Unless maybe at the server end.) That’s just the standard customer-support style finger-pointing and blame shifting.
