Getting Spam in 9 Languages Now

With the arrival of an indecipherable (OK, I could have used Google Translate, probably) email in what is I assume to be Afrikaans-- the first line of the second paragraph is this: “Ek het baie goeie ervarings uit my jeug met sprekers van Afrikaans,” I am officially being spammed in 9 languages.

Last week, for some unknown reason, I began receiving posts from something called Foundation Operation X for languages, cultures and perspectives, which are in Latin, and the best I can figure from one year of high school Latin, is that this group is trying to revive Latin as a living language.

I also get spam in Czech, Russian, Hebrew, Yiddish, Spanish, French, and good ole English.

Now, I have posted in Spanish, Hebrew, and English, and maybe a few times in French, or at least about French, and I do kinda sorta still read Russian (I spoke it when I was 10). But I have never known Czech, just Slovak (and as of yet, not received spam in Slovak). I speak a mishmash of different dialects of Yiddish, but don’t read or write it, and have never posted in it. I also have never posted in Russian.

Where do people get my name and email address? Or do they send crap to everyone because it’s free?

@RivkahChaya It’s just you. :wink:

I get spammed in Polish, despite my very Irish name. Go figure. But also Hindu, Tamil, and Mandarin. I speak English, French, and a bit of German. I do sometimes get French spam, but it doesn’t surprise me because I belong to a couple of essentially French groups, though I rarely post.
