Ghost Peeps? Ghost Peeps!!

The first days of October, a trip to the market barrages you with reminders that Halloween is only 4 weeks away–bags of Fun Size Mars Bars, candy corn, and plastic jack o’lanterns are piled up to eye level so they’re all within easy reach.

Normally, I ignore most of this, but something caught my eye this time.

The familiar purple packaging… soft, marshmallowy shapes under cellophane…

Yes, folks, the beloved Easter candy, Peeps, have branched out to make Ghost Peeps.

I’m in love. I bought three boxes.

Marshmallow Peeps ghosts have been out for awhile Java, also for Halloween are orange Spooky cats and orange and green Pumpkins. My father is a connisiuer of all that is Peep and there isn’t much time that we do not have some kind of Peep in the house. For his birthday last year I got him membership to the Peeps fanclub and he recieved a purple hat with a yellow peep on it, as well as a t-shirt and a newsletter.

I know, I know, my family is weird.

Peeps now come in various incantaions:

Purple, pink, blue, yellow, and white, Peeps
Ditto for the Bunnies
