So, anyone watch ** Manchild **on BBC America last night? I kinda liked it. It certainly wasn’t the sort of thing you’d ever see on American TV, I don’t believe. A sitcom about 4 50-something men in midlife crisis? Not likely.
But it was pretty clever in spots, and damn…ASH (Anthony Stewart Head, billed as Anthony Head on this show) is just hot, hot, hot AND a really terrific actor. So were the others, really. (Not hot, just good actors. ) I think the Brits really do have much higher standards than America does for the acting ability of their performers. Of course, we have much higher standards for their appearance, so I guess it depends on what you value.
Oh, and to explain the OP: Ash’s character has penis issues and lots of sex scenes. If one is accustomed to ASH playing Giles, it is both disconcerting and pretty damn funny.
I didn’t watch it (the show looked silly) but man, I must have seen the ad for it about 300 times just from watching BBC America for a couple of days. I was hoping they’d use “Coupling” for the Friday night block… oh well, they made up for it by showing a Ground Force marathon right when I got into town.
Well, there is that whole talk about The Ripper, a show based on Giles’s wild times in England…perhaps you just got a great sneak peek at the WB’s new “Adult Entertainment” line up. It’s the touching story of one man battling with his destiny and need to nail anything with two legs. Actually, having watched a good bit of Japanese animation, that just gives me really frightening images of ASH and some wierded out demon monster getting it on. Eeeewwwwww… that’s a horrible idea for a show, what were they thinking?
