My sister and I went to the market the other day for general food stuffs and ran across an item that could only be described as “No Words Can be Found”.
Walking down the frozen food isles, we came upon the ice cream section (not intending to purchase, just passing through). I stop, seeing a logo from the corner of my eye, I open the case…and yes, it is!
It is Breyer’s Ice Cream, SAMOA COOKIE ICE CREAM!!! A caramel ice cream with fudge striping and chunks of Samoa’s. There is also a THIN MINT VERSION although, not sure of the ice cream flavors for that one!!!
Has anyone else seen this? We were in awe (and yes, I bought the Samoa one…BTW it is really good.)
I’ve been doing a box a week at work (I know, I’m a mere dilettante), and they’re accusing me of being a cookie monster or something vile like that.
I figure I’ll make a good meal for the worms when I kick the bucket.
Isn’t it Edy’s that makes the Girl Scout ice cream? I have a big container of Thin Mint in my freezer right now. It’s pure orgasmic ice-creamy goodness. I’m contemplating turning some of it into Thin Mint milkshakes. Mmmm
Do you want this to be the longest thread in SDMB history? I mean, who doesn’t love girl scout cookies? That Samoan ice cream sounds delicious. Unfortunately, I already have two tubs of ice cream at my house, but next time I go to the supermarket, I’ll be looking for it.
Thin mints are the only true Girl Scout Cookie. Those, and Trefoils. Oh, yeah, and peanut butter sammich cookies, whatever those are called. And those other ones I really like. All the rest are imposters.
Oh my God…I was a Girl Scout for twelve years and my mother was the troop “Cookie Momster” for two, which meant that we got to go to headquarters and pick up all the cookies for the whole troop, then sort them out in the living room. Our whole house would smell of chocolate and mint.
I actively support the two parents who sell cookies in our office…plus, if you split your order among multiple Scouts, your friends & coworkers don’t know how many boxes you’re really buying!
I have 4 boxes of thin mints, and two others which i can’t remember waiting at my neices house. Unfortunately they live 2 hrs away and I can’t pick them until Easter possible, or even later. last year I didn’t get them until August. It really sucks seeing everyone walking around with them and knowing I have some but won’t get them for so long…
Hi, I’m new here so excuse my lack of quotes or links. I got curious about the Edy’s-Breyers topic, so I looked on the web. Edy says SHE makes girlscout cookie flavors. Edys.com is the website. Breyers has a seperate website, and they don’t mention anything about being affiliated with Edy’s. Edy’s does have a link to another company, called Dreyers. Don’t know if they are related, but it sounds awfully darned suspicious, if you ask me!
I like crushing thin mints in my Angel Food homemade vanilla. I do it every year!
The Girl Scout cookie ice cream is made by Edy’s/Dreyer’s. Breyer’s (now a division of Kraft) is a seperate brand unaffiliated with the Dreyer company.
East of the Mississippi, Dreyer’s ice cream is sold as Edy’s brand to avoid confusion or mistake with Breyer’s, which has sold ice cream in the eastern half of the country since the late 1800s. I don’t know if Breyer’s is available on the west coast.
I won’t mention the eight boxes of cookies I’ve got. Five boxes of Thin Mints and three boxes of peanut butter patties. Fortunately, they’re going to Airman.
