Girls smelling each others' hair

In the movie Easy A, when Emna Stone and Amanda Bynes become friends, Bynes sniffs Stone’s hair. Is this a common occurrence amongst females?

Don’t you know?

They’re talkin bout a revolution?

Yeah

girls also compare their boobs sizes and have pillow fights

I’m going to answer this question sincerely, just in case.

It happens. I wouldn’t call it normal, but, if, say, a girl had a new shampoo that smelled good, it might happen. But it would not be something that you would expect. Although, even though I haven’t seen the movie, I would suspect this was added for titillation, as smelling someone’s hair, especially when done in a certain way, is also a rather intimate act, implying the ladies in question are sexually attracted to one another. In that context, such things would be much more common.

Also, don’t call women “females.” They don’t particularly like that. Female as a noun is considered very depersonalizing. Your post makes you sound like you are doing some sort of lab experiment on them, and is likely why you are getting so few serious replies.

It’s the only reason I even bother to have girlfriends. You can get men to smell your hair, sure, but only a woman truly knows what another woman wants.

So, a guy who digs Miley Cyrus enough to style his username after her lyrics.

Or, a girl who’s never had a female friend.

In either scenario, you’re not god, by virtue of you needing to ask this question, so at least that matter’s cleared up.

Pubic?

Or that you’re a Ferengi.

<Nature Show narrator voiceover>

“And now we see the dominant female sniffing the hair of a subordinate female as she establishes her dominant position in the [del]pack[/del]cheerleading squad.”

"OMG. I’m back home. All the time I was… And that’s Herbal Essence…! You did it. You Really… finally… did it… "
walks ahead slowly

“…You Maniacs! You Sniffed It All Up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to Hell…!”
falls to the ground weeping

“I’ll stay here in the jeep while Jim goes to try to sniff that female’s hair, a common occurance in Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom.”

Depends on the species.

women = wo + men
female = fe + male

Don’t see a big difference. I don’t mind being called a male, do women mind being called females?

Is that a serious question?

You do not get to choose how another person responds to words, and etymological debate does not answer the question of why someone else may be offended by your word choice.

I don’t know if I’m “offended” by nouning of the word female, but the connotation is such that I assume the user is 15 or a boor. Or both.

Oh, and if hair smells good, I may take a sniff. I may say, “Mmm…your hair smells fantastic!” Can’t say as it’s ever lead to bra clad pillow rights, though. And if a man smells fantastic, I’ll say the same. Still no pillow fights. Maybe I’m doing it wrong.

Accepted. “Offended” may be too strong a term but it is more succinct than “react as if the speaker were a basement-dwelling mouth-breathing pimply video-gaming git.”

Is this the same as dogs smelling each others’ butts?

Listen to BigT, he knows all about what the ladies like.
