Wow, three day weekend, yay!! It’s been a great week, too, especially after I got the cortizone injections in my knees. 
So far (knocks on wood three times), so good, btw. It’s a lot less painful walking and especially standing up. Whew! Now to get into a “water walking” exercise routine.
No real plans for the weekend–a bit of grocery shopping, because there’s only a bit of money left over after bills are paid! Thank goodness for books, which I have several in the pipeline, the intrawebs, and cable tv; there should be plenty to keep me busy for the next three days.
Dinner tonight will be Safeway fresh supreme pizza, with extra cheese. Yum!

Parents are gone to a Baker Street Irregular dinner and meeting. They leave quite early for Ohio, so won’t stop by tomorrow. In all, a very successful visit, but there is this: they both talk to me at once, and whomever I “put on hold” so to speak, the other one sulks a bit. Oh, not like a 3 year old sulks, but it’s there.
What’s a child to do? I didn’t do anything. The pumpkin muffins are fantastic! Nummers.

Hello one and all! It’s been a hell of a week and I’m glad it’s over!
I finally received a replacement computer at work late Wednesday afternoon. However, I’m still waiting to see if they were able to retrieve my documents from my old computer. Additionally, they still need to install two programs into my computer; both of which are critical to my job. Sigh…I don’t want to push automation folks too hard because they jumped through their asses to get me this tablet PC. Hopefully, things will be resolved next week. Keep your fingers crossed.
palebunny, uh, did you not SEE the snow in the passes as you drove over them? It was snowing gangbusters on Stevens Pass and even Snoqualmie Pass was white.
The guys have cancelled their overnight backpacking trip. They were going to leave at 7:00 tomorrow morning and return on Sunday, but the weather is predicted to be a rain/snow mix, with high winds. I’m glad. My son is highly disappointed though.

He dropped right off in the middle of a PC game. He was literally playing one minute, and the next there was silence…well except for his Darth Vader type snoring.

I worked 11 f#%&ing hours today! whine whine! I want a pumpkin muffin as compensation!
Speaking of compensation, the company is long overdue for an across-the-board rate hike/COL increase - we haven’t had one since '02 or '03. As a result, since I am at the top of my tier, I have not had a raise since '04. So I shall present this to my supervisor “I understand that I cannot make any more at this lever (yadda yadda yadda) but I haven’t been compensated for my good reviews in 3 years - I will accept, as compensation, unblocked internet” Do ya think they’ll go for it?
I think you need to ask for unblocked internet access, setting your own hours, and at least a 10 percent raise. But hey, that’s just me.

Well sure, you start out asking for 10 percent as an opening “bid”, so to speak. Then you and the boss can haggle down to, something “reasonable”.
Hey, if they don’t want to give you a raise, ask for a “market adjustment.” One year all my friends were complaining because the firm was only giving 4% raises, and I couldn’t tell them that they’d given me the 4% plus a market adjustment of 10%, or effectively a 14% raise.
And there’s no harm in lobbying with some facts & figures. Especially if you have ways you’ve saved/made the company $$. The bottom line means all to most places.
In cheerful news, midafternoon today I suddenly started feeling pretty good again. So I took a nice long shower and washed the stink off; now I just need to change the sheets. But I’ve actually been doing pretty well. Ate a big dinner and yummy dessert (Papa Tigs brought me home yesterday a mini-peanut butter cream pie freshly made that day at the Amish market, talk about scrumptious!), and have been puttering thus far this evening. And now I actually may get some <gasp> work done – I promised one job by Sunday, and I really, really need to get it done since this person I’m doing it for is a very small business and can’t really afford to jeopardize her contract with her client.

Okay, apparently I’m not that recovered yet; I’ve been trying to work, and it’s as if the words go in my ears and make no sense. And it doesn’t help that this is a crappy self-recorded committee meeting where they have a tendency to all talk at once.
I think I’ll go change the sheets on the bed and crawl in. At least that’ll please the cat, if not my employer!
I also need to go to bed–0530 comes early. I have 3 pts tomorrow, but in other news, my daughter’s field hockey game was cancelled due to injuries on the other team, so at least I’m not missing a game.
