mmp’s gettin’ hot
It IS a smutty place today. I like it.
So, well that a shortened version of what I need to do out there, but I put some off for good reason. Bees.
I have to pull out a bunch of flowers from a bed outside. I was all set to get at it, when I noticed 47 bazillion bees around the flowers. Soooooo, I fertilized and watered some trees and bushes.
BusWife is at the cubby game today. I dropped her off at the train a while ago. She’s meeting people from work, then after the game, riding the train to Naperville where a few friends and I will be holding down some seats in an emporium of adult beverages.
When did Cal Ripken get that bald?
I was a throwin’ fool today! I threw 3 cat and 2 dog jars, a big bowl, 2 coffee mugs, and 2 soup mugs. I also made a monster jar lid and decorated the monster body. I’m hoping most of the pieces dry overnight so I can trim and decorate them tomorrow. I’d love to have a kilnload by the end of the weekend.
But now I’ve quit. For the day. More clay play tomorrow.
Hi, all. Papa Tigs, the Idiots, and I got home a little while ago from Gettysdope IV. It was fun meeting a bunch of Dopers I hadn’t met before. And Papa Tigs commented on several things: how unpretentious Dopers are; how bright and outgoing their children are; and how we had waaaaay too much food for everybody to eat! The Idiots were well behaved, and Norinew’s youngest, mudgirl, hit it off immediately with Isaac; poor Isaac got a ball thrown for him, by mudgirl and later additions to the younger crowd, till he was about to drop. And we think the Idiots only got half each of a hot dog, approved, and only under-table foraging in the unapproved department – although Norinew did leave half a hamburger on a bench that went missing when the Idiots were briefly in the vicinity. :dubious: Hey, they’re dogs, if they can’t swipe food at a picnic, what’s life for?
Anyway, it was a gorgeous day, a gorgeous drive, and we’re all home and feeling mighty lazy. Looks like I missed a lot of misbehavior here today, though! :dubious:
^^^Happy Birthday, LiLi!^^^
Your cake sounds yummy – can I have a piece?
And not to be forgotten,
^^^Happy 6 Month Birthday, HRH!^^^
Teething and weaning? You’re in for a lovely few weeks, aren’t you, Dotty?
I got at least a third of a lovely shawl knitted at Gettysdope today, so I’m quite pleased with my efforts. I’ve also got several scarves underway, and hope to have at least a few more before the craft show. Gotta have lots of stuff to make lots of $$ for charity!
Finally finished grading papers. w00t! There’s only so much stupidity I can take in a day. (Not that all the papers were stupid, but most of them certainly were.)
I should go out and buy eggs and fry up some rice.
And -Happy 6 Months, HRH!-
How could I forget?
Happy Birthday, LiLi!!!**
And happy six months Baby Noor! I read your thread, Dotty, and don’t have any suggestions, but she looks so cute in that picture!!!
I’ve been vegetating all day, watching movies and adding books to my goodreads shelves. Now I’m going to stop and read Bel Canto for a while. I’m not quite 1/2 done and want to finish it before the weekend is out.
I am shocked! Shocked! Yes, shocked at the behavior in this thread. (Is there any popcorn left?)
Back later…

Happy Birthday, Li-Li!!!
and
Happy 6 Months Day, Baby Noor!!!
Had a really good day today. Got my hair done, picked up my recovering friend, went to a Dim Sum place for lunch (and you know it’s authentic when better than 80% of the patrons are Chinese). Went to Catherine’s to find her something for a wedding she and her husband are going to in two weeks - found this for her, and I bought this (in wavy stripes of 3 different blues)for me. Plus we both bought this in purple, and she got it in black, too. Then we went to Cold Stone Creamery for dessert. A real girly-girl day. I haven’t done that in forever - like 5 years easy.
Anyway, she and her husband are having a bunch of us over tomorrow to play board games, so I’m going to wear the purple leaf shirt, and she’s going to wear her black leaf shirt. Then at some point, when every one is there, I’m going to say “Y’know, I’m looking at you and me and thinking I don’t like looking like the Bobsey twins. Would you mind terribly changing your shirt?” and she’ll agree and go change into her purple leaf shirt! :D:D:D
:::looks around to make sure no one is watching, sneaks over and unties Achod. Waits patiently for reward:::
Someone called me Suzy Wong on the street today. You know what really confuses me? It’s usually people of other minorities doing this. You’d think they’d be more sensitive than the average white American, but apparently not. :dubious:
Ack it’s too hot today! :: wilts in chair ::
Hm, why did I call baby Noor HRH in my previous post? I’m going to blame MamaTigs. Unless this is some acronym I am not aware of.
perhaps I should elaborate. This is my friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She has since had several rounds of chemo and two months ago, had a double radical. But the good news is once it finally stops building up fluid, and she can have reconstructive surgery, she’ll be fine, because they did a test to see if she had “that gene” (I forget the name of it) and she does not. Plus her hair is growing back in nicely.
eta:
it means “Her Royal Highness” since a baby often behaves like a spoiled queen
Cute tops, Rosie! I wonder if there are any Catherines around here? I hate clothes shopping, so finding someplace that has cute things is always a plus.
Haze, I refer to Noor as HRH because that’s what Dotty does. And yes, it stands for Her Royal Highness. Which is a very appropriate name for a little princess!
Dotty, where’s your thread? I took a quick look for it, but didn’t find it.
tarragon - please check your PMs
Drive-by post, from the rescue station.
Remember: Call 911, and make an EMT come…
ooo! reminds me to present this very snerkable fortune from lunch:
You are in the vicinity of a good time. Get the shy to join in.
Happy snerking
Who knew the grocery was such a happenin’ place on a Saturday night? There were lines!
No whips or chains, boot or cream, though…
It’s hot as hell here tonight–and humid too. I don’t live in Florida! Come back, October.
I’m off to waste time and maybe do some grad school work. Maybe.
Did you know you can now build your own Simpsons avatar? This is me.
Shop Catherine’s on line, then.
Don’t know if it’s just me, but I can’t get the link to your avatar to work, rosie.
Sorry to hear about the Suzy Wong comment, Haze. I really don’t understand what people who do that are even thinking.
What - they had no cream at the grocery, rigs? How is that even possible.
I’m sleepy, so I think I’ll crawl into bed…
Happy Saturday night everyone!
GT
<clears throat> they had no cream to be used for such a purpose. Jewel is a family store!
Can I show my ignorance and ask who is Suzy Wong? I know you all will be kind and not mock me unmercifully…
Basically an Asian stereotype.
