Happy Birthday LiLi!!!

Happy [color=white]half B[/color]irthday Noor!!!
…[/color]…*

Home from work, gotta go back tomorrow. I was short handed again, and I’m dealing with infantile petty politics. I prefer the whips and chains here.

No avatar, Rosie.

You are in the vicinity of a good time. Get the shy to join in.
In bed!!!

Jahdra, my car is 15 years old. I guess they don’t make 'em like they used to.

Before I shop somewhere online, Rosie, especially where clothes are concerned, I like to get some idea of the fabrics they use and the general quality – some places the clothes look great online but then when you get them they feel really nasty. Plus I’ve learned that unless it’s something very basic, like a t-shirt, I really need to try it on – I don’t like the way most things fit on me. Alas, I’ve learned my lessons too well from What Not to Wear. Sigh.

I don’t understand why people say crap like that, Haze. It’s just so unnecessary.

I liked the analysis of one book club for Bel Canto. If you think of the plot of the book like an opera, there are some interesting parallels. And the opera theme comes from one of the main characters being an opera singer, of course.

Me too! Completely and utterly shocked! ::clucking noises::
::munching on popcorn::

Be careful of what you wish for.
Hey Dotty! I was going to post “Pretty Woman” as my song for the night to represent you and Haze and the boots thing. But I think I’m gonna stick with the Kenny Loggins theme for one more night.

Whenever I Call You Friend
[Kenny Loggins]Whenever I call you “Friend”
I begin to think I understand
Anywhere we are
You and I have always been
Forever and ever
I see myself within your eyes
And that’s all I need to show me why
Everything I do
Always takes me home to you
Forever and ever
Now I know my life has given me more than memories
Day by day, we can see
In every moment there’s a reason to carry on

Sweet love’s showin’ us a heavenly light
Never seen such a beautiful sight
See love glowing on us every night
I know forever we’ll be doing it
Sweet love’s showin’ us a heavenly light
I’ve never seen such a beautiful sight
See love glowing on us every night
I know forever we’ll be doing it

Whenever I call you “Friend”
I believe I’ve come to understand
Everywhere we are
You and I were meant to be
Forever and ever
I think about the times to come
Knowin’ I will be the lucky one
And ever our love will last
I always want to call you “Friend”[/Kenny Loggins]

To you and Lunch, have a great start of the week! To everyone else (I think), have a great end of the weekend!

sorry about the broken link. try this

Morning all!

Noor is down for her morning nap and I am getting ready for our trip to the paediatrician this morning. 6-month check up and immunizations (FUN!). We are taking bets on how much HRH weighs now. When she was in hospital back in late August, she weighed in at just over 8kg (nearly 18lb), so I reckon she should be about 9.5kg (21lb) by now. She is not FAT, but she is a solid little thing. She is already sitting up unsupported (although she does occasionally still topple over to one side or the other) and has the makings of a commando style crawl happening (still very slow and generally going nowhere in a hurry). I thought I had another couple of months before I needed to properly baby-proof the house, but it seems I need to stop the expensive lunches and start spending my money on baby-gates, power-point covers and cupboard locks!

MamaTigs, I linked to it [post=9048311]here[/post].

Rigs, no rope at the store? You need to try my supermarket - I just bought 30m of plastic-covered clothesline there last week (no rope-burn, but it may rub a little! ). And I also happen to know that you don’t need one of those specialised jars of chocolate body-paint - just use warm Nutella and a pastry brush! (But definitely avoid champagne in bed - it stings!)

Roo, thanks for the song! I really like having friends all over the place (especially ones who think it’s fun to tie men up and torture them - I prefer to use an ostrich feather myself! )

My song this morning is in anticipation of my return to work next month: :frowning:

[Shania Twain]The car won’t start-it’s falling apart
I was late for work and the boss got smart
My pantyline shows-got a run in my hose
My hair went flat-man, I hate that

Just when I thought things couldn’t get worse
I realized I forgot my purse
With all this stress-I must confess
This could be worse than PMS

This job ain’t worth the pay
Can’t wait 'til the end of the day
Honey, I’m on my way
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

Honey, I’m home and I had a hard day
Pour me a cold one and oh, by the way
Rub my feet, gimme something to eat
Fix me up my favorite treat
Honey, I’m back, my head’s killing me
I need to relax and watch TV
Get off the phone-give the dog a bone
Hey! Hey! Honey, I’m home![/Shania Twain]

Have a great day folks!!!

Don’t tell anyone I’m drunk. It’s an MMP secret.

HEY EVERYONE! bbs2k IS DRUNK!

eta: too bad they don’t make a bigger font size

I remembered to take the keys to 304 with me as we left
… Just as soon as I’m finished watching this episode of “**Dotty **and Haze” (wouldn’t this be a great name for a Daytime TV show?)

**Haze **-- what is it that brings out the jerk in so many people? :frowning:
I’m wondering if it’s jealousy – or a stand-in type behavior for third-grader-pulling-the-cute-girl’s-ponytail.
I really think you get picked on more because you look good, and you seem to fit comfortably in The American Way – and they can’t have that, no siree. By Og, if they (other minorities) are failing to integrate, they will not stand for you succeeding!  :(. It’s like the class idiot bullies picking on the cute, smart geek all over again, I think.
… Not that there isn’t plenty of plain ole’ racism to go around, too, of course… I’m afraid you’re getting it from both barrels :frowning:
Anyway, what I’m trying to say is (and I know it’s scant confort, but still) – you’re getting more (negative) attention because you’re better than those picking on you, and they can’t stand it.

**Rigs **-- no rope and whips at your local grocery? You need to go to a more interesting store! Would you like me to take you shopping? (not that I’d know where to find these things… but we can look for them together!)

Roo – I’m not ignoring you. On the contrary – I’m paying close attention to where you are (and *pretending *to keep a safe distance) :stuck_out_tongue:
Oh, and good night!

Then we need to stick together.

But I think I should have let you do the honors today. I could have watched and learned something. Clothesline? Nutella? Ostrich feathers? Who knew?
::jotting down notes for future reference::

Much better.
I hope things are getting back to normal there.

Hugs and smooches! Good night!

rosie, rosie, rosie - green shoes with blue pants? I used to think so much better of you…
:stuck_out_tongue:
I’m up after an exceptionally good night’s sleep. I was crashed out before 9, woke briefly to pee, (**FCD ** was still watching TV in bed and I never noticed) then crashed again till almost 7 this morning. It’s been a long time since I slept that much, and it feels mighty fine. I’ve tended to the critters and I’m caffeinating. The patient is still crashed, but then again, he was up late watching TV.

Plans for the day include lots of studio time. I’m hoping I can trim and decorate the critter jars I threw yesterday. I’ve also got the mugs that my sister ordered to personalize. And I have an idea for a ceramic Christmas Tree table decoration that I’d like to attempt, although that may have to wait till the next batch.

Other than claying, I don’t see much happening around here. I do have to empty the dishwasher and start refilling it, and I really should do a general tidy - this place looks like a bomb went off! But I’ve got all day today and tomorrow - it’ll maybe get done eventually. Meanwhile, I think there are 1 or 2 pieces of 'nanner bread left - I should probably eat them before they go bad. Shouldn’t be wasteful, what with starving children in Africa, or China, or wherever the heck they are.

Happy Sunday, all!

Afternoon all. Back from the paediatrician, who declared HRH to be a “superstar”!

Noor now weighs 9.25kg (20lb 6oz?) and is 72cm (28 1/2 in) long, with a head circumference of 43cm (nearly 17in). She is in the 98th percentile for height and weight, and right about average for head circumference (reassuring given her condition). Her physical and motor development are also ahead of par (about level with your average 8 month old), so we are well pleased!!! HRH also had her 6 month vaccinations (Hep B, HiB, DPT and polio). The nurse was amazed at how quickly Noor got over the injection - 5 seconds wail, 10 seconds whimpering and then she was back to smiling at the lovely lady! We’ll just wait and see how she fares over the next couple of days, but otherwise her next visit isn’t till 9 months and no more needles till her first birthday!

Okay, off to sort out iftar - we are staying home today, so I am planning to do cajun style rib-eye steaks with garlic-chili fried NOTs for hubby and garlic and bacon fried NOTs for me. I also might break down and make cheesecake brownies for dessert!

Up and caffeinating. It’s my day off, so I gotta go to work and clean up. Then it’s laundry, and maybe a trip to the SPCA. I feel the need to walk something.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! I have been up forever. See, I only allowed myself to sleep four hours last night because I need to sleep this afternoon so’s I can stay awake tonight so’s I can sleep durin’ the day tomorrow cause I gotta do third shift startin’ Monday night. And yes I have had quite a lot of caffiene, why do you ask?

Since I was up at 4:00 A.M., I made a casserole for brunch today. It’s brunch Sunday at church so I figured that’d be a good use of time. Plus, I made real breakfast for ol’ y’all know who and me. Bacon/cheese omelets, grits and biscuits. YUM! So there are two really happy tummies at da cave right now. Speakin’ of ol’ y’all know who, he’s in the midst of purtification for church. I’m already purtified.

Yesterday we cleared a whole lot of fallen pecan tree limbs and did a buncha mowin’ at the church, followed by the blessing of the animals. JoeDawg behaved his little self even! It was really like he’d been exorcized. He was friendly and let people pet him and even gave kisses. Then again he is a little attention [del]whore[/del] sponge and knew he was center stage. He can put on the act when he wants to the stinker. Right now I have him on his strict regimine of sofa time and treats, so he is upon the sofa having just had a treat. I know I shouldn’t be so strict but I must maintain discipline after all.

I have tomorrow’s MMP all ready to go and intend on puttin’ it up midnightish EDT so it’ll be a bright and early MMP. All youse who stay up late or are already into your Monday will be amongst the first to read it. Thrillin’ huh? Oh, and I expect some entertainment tonight to keep me awake.

Ok, off to check out some other threads before headin’ out.

Later Y’all!

ETA: Ya know when I was growin’ up, according to my mother, all the starving children were in India.

they’re blue jeans, and everyhing goes with blue jeans! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m awake again. Woke up about 5 times in the middle of the night and was awake for several hours somewhere in the middle.

Yay on the good report from the doctor!

Stopping by the SPCA sounds like a good way to manage your grief, doggio.

I was supposed to meet some friends this morning to make hypertufa troughs, but I think I’m going to poop out, or at most stop by to say hi and not actually work.

Crawling back into bed for a while…

GT

Breakfasted, dishwasher emptied and refilled, showered and dressed. And I’m almost done with my Sunday paper (online, but still.) I will need to get groceries somewhere along the line. Maybe I’ll combine that with a trip out to eat, if **FCD ** is so inclined.

Brandy is being a little attention whore today. I guess she really missed us while we were at Mom’s. Ii appears she knew I was talking about her - she just jumped up on my shoulder. Purring like crazy.

I’ll be heading to studioland in a little bit. The clay is calling…

Awake, recovering from yesterday’s food-a-thon (happy Thanksgiving, everyone!) and getting ready for church. The cake is wonderful. My Mum made me a chocolate-espresso cake, too. I’m very impressed. It’s the first time she’s baked a cake in at least twelve years.

Now I’ve got to take Mr. Lissar’s tea to him and haul him out of bed. Wish me luck.

Morning, all. I’m all slept out. I actually woke up earlier and contemplated getting up, but Papa Tigs was sleeping so peacefully next to me that I didn’t want to disturb him, since he’s had a lot of trouble sleeping lately – his sinuses fill up the instant he lies down, so it’s really frustrating for him. (And no, they haven’t found a cause for it, unfortunately – I swear it’s psychological or something, nobody can find any physical cause.) But eventually my bladder won out over my desire to let him sleep. Also, the cat was pushing me off my pillows.

Poor Isaac is stiff this morning after all the running yesterday! He’s definitely developing arthritis in his hip, poor baby; but he wouldn’t have missed all the exercise playing with the kids at Gettysdope for anything. So he’s had his morning aspirin and is back to napping. He and Rusty have nearly as hard a life as Joe Dawg.

It’s a pretty day here, although it’s supposed to get up to 85°. Which is utterly ridiculous in October! Here’s hoping it cools off soon; I am sick and tired of heat!

I’d better go do something productive, so I can goof off later today. Sigh.

I awoke to a horrid sinus headache. I do wish the weather would just settle into FALL and be done with this humidity. It’s killing me sinuses!
I have school work to do. I was all eager to volunteer while at work yesterday, but now it is dawning on me that I have to get up at 0430 AGAIN tomorrow. Ugh.
#2 son had 2 [del]fiends[/del] I mean fRiends sleep over last night, so I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast. They are good (nothing like sugar and fat to help a sinus headache).
Doggio–please post pics if you bring home a buddy.

Noor is NOT a “superstar”, she is HRH. I hope you corrected the doctor… She sounds like she’s thriving, despite the heat, the runs, the meds etc. Good on you, MOM! Well done. And baby proof ASAP-those lil critters get fast quick.
Haze–I understand now. But isn’t that a kind of obscure reference? Maybe you should look at it this way: your heckler (who is jerk, no question) is at least somewhat learned? I know some Filipinas at work who complain about being called “Chink” or “Jap”…Suzy Wong is perhaps a “step up” in insults? Anyway, I agree with** GT**–it’s so unnecessary.

It’s 9:19. I want to go back to bed.

Good morning everyone! I’m up, showered and NOT caffienating. It seems we’re out of coffee. That’s okay though, we’re heading out to breakfast in just over an hour anyway.

I’m glad to read that Noor is doing so well.

Another night of not much sleep for me. Maybe I’ll get some sleep tomorrow. We shall see.

We had quite the excitement in our region yesterday afternoon.

At about 3:00 pm I was sitting exactly here, reading the Dope. All of a sudden a felt a big jolt, heard a boom, and my house shook. The hubby looked at each other and said, “WTF was that?!” He ran outside, but didn’t see anything.

Cut to a few hours later, when some friends of mine called. It turns out a there were three explosions at a foundry over 10 miles from my house. A semi’s axle blew from the foundry to a freeway viaduct a mile away! There was various other debris raining down, but none as big as the semi axle. The third explosion was the biggest, and is is the one we felt and heard. Here is one of the many news articles on it. Foundry Explosion

The pictures don’t really give the true scale.

In a complete miracle, only four people were injured. One is pretty severely injured, though. The rest were treated and released.

There were lots of guardian angels yesterday, I think. It could have been so much worse.

I guess I should go dry my hair now.
