Git 'R Done. Huh?

Exactly. I saw the first Blue Collar Comedy Tour, never heard of Ron White before, and I was on the floor during his “drunk in a bar” routine. We bought his CD. He’s a bit profane for my tastes, but dayum, that man can spin a tale.

You think it’s stupid, but it’s my town’s official motto now. The mayor used city money to make up a buttload of t-shirts with this printed on them, not to mention bumper-stickers and car decals. (There was a minor flap over that ‘city money’ thing, but the ‘scandal’ such as it is isn’t going anywhere.)

It replaces “Havre: It’s the People” and “Havre Has It” (universally suffixed with “Don’t Catch It”).

I suppose small towns are the same everywhere.

[buttonjockey308]I think the popularity of LtCG is due to the fact that he’s well marketed to those who buy that tawdry sweatshop crap at convenience stores and gas stations in great quantities. I’ve gotten fuel at a speedway station in the past two weeks, and noticed a kiosk (oh the irony!) full of Larry’s cheap plastic crap. This is the key to his success, methinks. Well that, and the red staters

One of the products I saw months ago at a gas station was a Larry the Cable Guy-sponsored product promoting awareness of diabetes. It said ‘Git-er-done for Diabetes.’ I’m serious.

I’m thinking, what’s next- 'if you find yourself experiencing dull pain in the chest spreading to the left shoulder and shortness of breath-

you might have a heart problem!’ (Foxworthy)

Man there’s just nuthin’ worse than a buncha people standing around explainin’ jokes. :stuck_out_tongue:

Larry just wrote this article for Maxim mag:

I never planned to be the guy with the catch phrase. One day, ‘Git-r-done’ popped out of my mouth. People laughed at it, I kept saying it, and it’s been mine ever since.
What does it mean? It’s the good-old, all-American work ethic. Do whatever it takes to get the job done. Never quit. Always give 110 percent. Git-r-done.
Ted Nugent… stands up for his beliefs and doesn’t back down. That’s gittin’-r-done.
But it can mean other things, too, depending on where you are and how you say it. Git-r-done can express sorrow, happiness and other emotions, like, “Hey, let’s go to the store and eat some waffles- git r done!” or "Boy, did you see the tts on her? Git-r-done!"

I’ve even got git-r-done trademarked and copyrighted- but I’m not greedy with it.I know people are ripping it off and putting it on T-shirts, but I’m not going to be an a##hole and chase after them. I’m not getting rich from git-r-done shirts, so what? I made enough money from it to buy some new tires for my truck, and I’m happy with that.
The best part of git-r-done, though, is how the boys in the military are using it. I get mail all the time with pictures of “Git-r-done” written on tanks and humvees. The navy sent me a photo of a smart bomb that read “Compliments of Larry the Cable Guy. Git-r-done!”

There, I just got it done :).
