Was "Git-R-Done" Pre-Larry?

Did the phrase “Gir-R-Done” exist before Larry the Cable Guy?

Yes. I heard it many times in my youth from Southern working class types. The approximate meaning was, “This unpleasant job isn’t going to do itself. Let’s get it done and over with.”

Oh and the full phrasing was usually: “All right, let’s get her done.” (Usually as an admonition to a loafer or a group of same.)

Now as to why an unpleasant task is a “she,” I dunno.

Ah, thank you, I’ve just won a bet!

Does it bother you to hear people using it haphazardly all the time, or does it just seem like any other over-used meme?

No more annoying than any other catch phrase, I reckon.

Would it by any change be for one of the new Jefferson coins?

Anyway, by it’s very definition, a meme can’t be overused.

You mean the new nickels? Or did they release others, too?

I stand corrected.

Yes.

I nominate this thread title as the weirdest of the day.
