I was out and about looking for an anniversary card for Mrs. Blue Sky (today is our 8th anniversary!) and I stumbled across these horrifying images.
Somebody has gone nuts with Photoshop or some such photo editor.
Creepy, eerie, just plain sick.

Hm. Very…Interesting, MBS. I may never get the vision of that pug dog out of my head…
Congrats, though, on 8 years, and wishing you many more.
Ew. I think it’s a sign that we’re running out of time as a world power that we now have a cuteness industry.
And I HATE pugs. Ugly frickin’ things.
Arggh!!! Creepy demonic dogs bad!!
Wishing you a happy anniversary and many more to come.
I’ve seen these cards in the greeting card aisle. They’re creepy. ick
Happy Anniversary! only 42 more years till your golden anniv!
I’ve never understood how picture distortions like these are supposed to be cute, or even “pleasing to the eye” (to use industry terms). This reminds me of an image trend that’s still found in various newsletters, especially family newsletters: take a 120 x 120 (pixel) image, resize it to 80 x 170, and place it in a prominent spot on the page.
Oh, and Happy Anniversary!
Thanks for the congrats, all. I’m looking forward to many many more years.
Those cards remind me of those big-eyed children paintinggs you used to see. How can ANYBODY find these appealing?
Someone said that the best way to creep someone out is to show them a picture of someone with weird eyes.
Okay, I just checked my email. :dubious:
I guess I asked for that one.
I owe you one heart-ripping-out!
Oh gawd, I pray my mother doesn’t see any of these, she’ll send me one. I already received an angry, wet-cat card for my birthday, at least that was kinda funny on some level. These are just wrong.
And just what message do these images convey? That bonzai kitty was simply not horrific enough?
Why did I click on the link after reading this? Eeeuuwwwww!
::squee:: AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW…lookit da widdle puppy! He’s a widdle shnookums, yesh he is!
Well, I’m sorry, I find them cute. ;p
Well, to each his own. You should just eat this up.
Aaaaaarrrggghghh!!! The nightmares!
::SQUEEEEE:: THE LITTLE OTTERS!!! Oh, I must have…
Black Hole Sun
Won’t you come
to wash the rain away…
Black Hole Sun
Won’t you come
Won’t you come…
But the ugly is why they’re so cute!
Now I have to go snuggle mine, to make up for your terrible insults against pughood.
::shudder:: God and Goddess, I hope my grandma doesn’t come across those abominations. I wouldn’t put it past her to actually buy one and send it to us. She’s one of those people who buys stuff from catalogs like Lilian Vernon and Paragon.
Whut??
I think they’re funny!!
After all, they are part of the greeting card company’s Twisted Whiskers line of cards.
So, I’m twisted. And I have whiskers, too. Well, the 'stache remains.
I take it many of you never had a puppy, dog, kitten or cat come up to your face at a weird angle that the perspective is exactly like the Twisted Whiskers images?
I guess you gotta be there.
