C’mon, the 13 colonies were united roughly under the Articles of Confederation. Furthermore, the Bear Republic didn’t last more than a month. Texas actually had multiple presidents and lasted nearly a decade!
Besides, you don’t really want to get rid of us. We’ve got more refineries than any other state by far, produce more oil than any other state, and have the biggest port in the U.S. when it comes to foriegn commerce. You really want to pay four bucks a gallon for gas like the rest of the world?
Far better to just make us knuckle under to your iron yankee will will so we’ll stop annoying you. Besides, y’all do realize that making us part of a foriegn country won’t actually make us any farther away, don’t you?
I’ve got it! We’ll detonate the border between Texas and … the other states. The explosions will cause this massive fissure to appear, and Texas will sink into the Gulf! Of course, we’d have to do it on the Mexico side, too, but I’m sure they’d be okay with it. And, if it didn’t exactly sink, we could tow it out to sea.
