Glasnost Mafia

and crap it was the fourth vote.

That would be the fourth vote, actually, as mine came before Drain’s.

NETA: boo simulpost!

and crap i should have put gad in there as well. i’ll try to keep up in the future.

peeker, what you posted was pretty much my internal monologue when I read that post.

Yeah, I totally sniped the coveted third vote from under peeker.

Gad and Tom. This racked up votes with a quickness. As well it should have.

Unfortunately I think it puts us in a tie (Maha and Pleo both at 5), but there’s still several hours to go.

While I still believe that Idle’s vote against Mahaloth was more reasonable than Mahaloth’s vote against Wolverine, on re-read I no longer find Mahaloth most suspicious. (For one thing, I suspected Mahaloth when he was Town in Halloween Mafia a few months ago – I think I just have trouble reading him.)

The case made against Astral Rejection seems strong. I am relying in large measure on my assessment of the experience and skill of those voting against Astral, but I think that’s a reasonable basis for my play.

Unvote Mahaloth

Vote Astral Rejection

I think it might be a slight mistake to Lynch Pleonast toDay. There are tactical reasons to keep a claimed Vanilla Townie alive, at least for a while.

Not caught up in the thread, septimus?

Vote estimate:
Pleo 5
Maha 4
Astral 4
Mental 4

We are getting very close to a tie situation here in the end of Day. I am automatically nervous about the sweeping landscape change. Furthermore, although there is some suspicion to be mined from **MentalGuy’s **characterization of his vote, it seems like a town-type mistake to make (that is, I don’t think a scum would be a blatant about the fact he was voting strategically rather than with his suspicion–I don’t think a scum would have mentioned Astral at all, in point of fact.)

This current situation, by my unofficial count, puts the vote leaders at Pleonast 5, **Mahaloth **5, **MentalGuy **4. It is now time for people who are voting on one-offs to come to Jesus, if they feel comfortable doing so.

I will move my vote to avoid a tie, if necessary, around 4PM. I do not like the tie resolution mechanic and think it would be worthwhile to avoid triggering it.

NETA: As far as I remember, you’re a reasonably experienced player. Therefore, you should know that this is actually a terrible basis for your play.

I thus raise my eyebrow at you, like so: :dubious:

Sept is a noob.

gah, preview got ahead of me.
My point still stands.

Wow!! I take my time composing posts (especially since Edit is disallowed), click Send … and see everything has changed!!

… I don’t know if I’ll be able to join you gals and guys for the Lynch Countdown Party; it’s already 2:25 AM in my time zone and I have a big Saturday ahead. … But I’m comfortable with my present vote.

Wow, this is delicious irony – if push comes to shove, will Pleo change his vote to avoid a lynch?

i was thinking the same durn thing.

I just popped in after a morning of meetings, and am quite uncomfortable with the sudden shift in votes, but I’m not sure what to make of it just yet. Back soon with more analysis…

I was laser-focused on players in heroes mafia who voted at odds with their stated feelings. That served me well, as it turns out.

MentalGuy, if you had just voted for me, that would have been fine. I agree, my play hasn’t been the best today (although, in all honesty, I’m always terrible and quiet on day 1). But as I said over and over again to Wolverine last game, you can’t believe somebody is more town than somebody else, and vote for the suspected townie anyway.

An additional note… earlier in the game, MentalGuy unvoted Pleo to vote Septimus. His given reason is: “All that said, I would rather vote for something that I think might point to actual scum rather than the annoying play of Pleo. The only thing that I have seen that has really seemed like that is the Septimus posts that were pointed out by Tom Scud.”

He unvotes Pleo to hunt scum, and then later in the same Day revotes Pleo to… avoid hunting scum?

I’ll gladly unvote Tom Scud for this. Vote MentalGuy.

I understand that this ties Mental with Pleo, and could be construed as a defensive vote. So be it. I currently feel Mental is my best lead.
