Musically, I believe it’s funk. Drama-wise, I have no idea.
Yay, Funk! Is it possible they’ll cover *Flashlight *and beguile my daughter into liking it? (She has been listening to Bad Romance all week.)
Looks like Schu does an . . . intriguing rendition of Tell Me Something Good. I’m looking forward to this one!
According to Wikipedia Will (Matthew Morrison) thinks he’s scored with Sue (Jane Lynch), but learns hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Quinn (Dianna Agron) connects with her “funky” side with Mercedes’ help. The Glee club discover that Jesse (Jonathan Groff) has returned to Vocal Adrenaline.[1]
Next week’s the season finale.
I thought I’d bump this because I read through this thread and didn’t find anyone commenting on what I thought was the strangest aspect of this already weird and implausible episode.
So Rachel is looking for her mom. Shelby, who knows she’s the mom and is apparently legally barred from contacting Rachel until she’s 18, specifically goes out of her way to set up a scenario where Rachel gets enough clues to finally come to Shelby on her own and they can have that mother daughter relationship they’ve longed for.
So what happens when that occurs? Shelby immediately turns around and says “yeah…I’m really not so interested in being a mom or, you know…friends.”
Really, that’s truly about the douchiest thing you can possibly do to someone and the only possible explanation that would make any sense is that Shelby’s not really Rachel’s mom and she planned the whole charade as one additional way to get Schuester’s group to tank in the regionals.
It’s douchey, sure. But it’s also in character (she walked away from her before) and it’s understandable. Something that seems like a good idea from a distance can get scary when confronted up close. It’s still a dick move, but it’s probably something that’s happened many, many times in real life (minus the showmanship, of course).
Yeah, Finn was obviously wrong and Burt was given a big tv moment to express tolerance. I get all that.
The thing that bothered me and that nobody else mentioned was that he gave himself years to work through the issue, but that Finn was supposed to know this from birth. So he gets one strike and he’s out.
Theatrical. Very theatrical. But it also goes against the entire theme of the episode in every other way. Knowing who you are and accepting it is a process, not an epiphany. Will beating up the football players make them suddenly see the light?
Didn’t help that this was the worst episode for the music and dancing. Even Brittany’s dumb line was too dumb to be funny.
Several gay message boards have pretty much the same take: poor choice of word, WAY overreaction by Burt, Kurt was sexually harassing Finn and had an ass chewing (not in the good way) coming. I think it was intentionally written this way so that all parties were at fault; it would have been very easy for the writers to make Kurt a complete innocent after all.
