Yeah, that was a “Wait. What?” moment for me.
Oh, you can’t let that bother you, or the show will drive you nuts. For example, in the third episode, the cheerleading coach wants the glee club defunded, because she needs the funds for a smoke machine for the Cheerios. Part of the dastardly plot to bring down the glee club involves hiring a famous choreographer who is so mean he’ll destroy the club. Unfortunately, they find out that he’ll cost $8,000 for one song. So, the cheerleaders hold a bikini car wash, and raise the $8,000.
I’m guessing $8,000 would buy one hell of a smoke machine, and it’s probably more than the entire annual budget of the glee club.

And I truly don’t let those tiny inconsistencies bother me. Not since they went to watch another team perform and the song was so trashy and the parents were cheering the stripper moves their girls were doing…while wearing poodle skirts and Peter Pan collars (IIRC)

Even if he was straight, the dad would still get calls like that.
I do too. But I hope we don’t get any more fake-outs. The coming out epsiode was looking like the dad would freak out, but he didn’t. This episode tried to make us think the phone call would make him freak out…but he didn’t. Which is great. He’s now pretty well established as someone who may be struggling to relate to his son, but will always support him. That’s enough to make things interesting and compelling.
Yeah. Really pulled me out of the episode.
