Anyone can use a melee weapon to strike to subdue.
It does the same damage, but dazes rather than slayng.
(Also here are some spells that effectively capture opponents, but no party caster has got them yet.)

Or (as Johannes would say) bring the prisoner in for trial…
We could…Dorric’s opinion on that subject will depend on what the prisoner says.
Dale, did you get the map?
If so, please could you post it?
How do we know we’re dealing with slavers specifically?
You don’t. Dorric thinks you are. It’s sort of a hot button for him, I don’t know that it is a reasonable conclusion, but Dorric hears forced fighting and he jumps to slavers.
Even if they aren’t slavers, it’s fairly clear that some people have taken over the Shrine, and we should do something about them. Are we bursting in and beating up anyone who looks at us wrong, or do we need a complex plan?
First one. I mean, Quentin’s not the guy for plans either way. But we have no idea what’s going on in there, really - the dead travelers are becoming a ghost army? So we have to at least go find out. Big dudes up front, etc.
Who’s our most learned religious loremaster? Anybody who knows what “So easy! Your pathetic Shrine gave no protection to those stupid peasants. Now they will fight for me - forever.” is about?
Dale is a Cleric.
Well. I still don’t know anything about religion, so let’s go fight some dudes!
Yes, let’s!
So, burst in and fight anyone who looks at us funny!
