Glee's roleplaying game companion thread

No, but I think he may have been intending to use Thieves Cant to reply to you.
(I’ve asked Malacandra to clarify that.)

Just waiting for Appleciders to introduce his character, then I’ll roll the dice for you!

This is indeed Thieves’ Cant, and translates as “Nothing to be upset about, youngster, we’re among friends at the moment, and I may have a job for you, but don’t talk Cant aloud in front of non-thieves. Keep quiet until you and I can talk openly (in private).”

I’m playing Thieves’ Cant as hand signals that non-Thieves simply don’t notice, so feel free to use it as often as you like!

Apologies to Appleciders, who is obviously busy.
I will introduce his character, so I can then reply to game conversations.

N.B. I don’t mind how fast or slow the game goes - but I did say earlier “once we begin players do need to keep sending in orders - even brief ones - so the game can keep moving…”
I was hoping players could put in brief orders a couple of times a day - but this is about enjoyment, so don’t worry if you can’t.

I’ve not made any orders as such as nothing’s happened yet, but I’ve tried to participate in-character as much as possible in the game thread.

No that’s all fine!

P.S. You may like to mention the Crest* engraved on your Breastplate and Shield…

*it’s the plume of a helmet.

I have been holding back a bit so that Dorric is only doing one thing at a time. I want to finish the conversation with Crumlin and the party before moving on to what the NPC has to say.

Is there a way for me to cast detect evil surreptitiously without anyone else knowing and inadvertently causing offence?

Is there a map of the town itself? If not Dorric will look around the square, without moving away fro the party, and see if there is a good place for him and the hobbit to go have a quiet conversation later. A place that wont draw attention to itself like a pub.

The adventure will continue later today - just give me a few hours…

No, you have to openly hold out your Crest Symbol (on your Shield.)
It won’t cause offence - except to those inherently Evil or those thinking Evil thoughts!

I haven’t done a map of the whole Circus / Gladiator complex (there’s enough paperwork already.)
However even though there’s a lot of people wandering around, you can easily find a quiet spot to chat.
(And you can use Thieves’ Cant as well.)

I’m just going to follow along for the free food at the moment, happy with the fee, and wait for further explanations.

I use study surroundings and interpret nearby humanoid behaviors while I give my speech in post 31. (Am I doing this right?)

Yes, this thread is for actions (such as telling me you’re using Hear Noise, Awareness and Alertness), whilst the Game Thread is for speeches (and my summaries.)

For example, you posted ‘The others wouldn’t notice his checking.’

Well you don’t know what they would notice , so leave those comments to me!
Suppose Mayor Crumlin has employed a Magic User who is both Invisible and reading Dorric’s thoughts, then Crumlin would soon know what you were doing…

Fair enough. I mostly just meant that he was not being obvious about checking around, he is subtle in his actions, he doesn’t overtly poke his head under tables and around corners. I will be more careful about how I describe things.

No worries - I always assume Thieves are being subtle!

As you’ll have seen in the game thread, I’m filling out the story with bolded actions, even if the characters don’t notice.
I’m using italics to show results that only that character knows.

This makes things clearer to follow.
Although as I said, your character can only do things based on what they know (i.e. not what you know.)

Crumlin’s not being particularly helpful or informative, is he? I don’t have any reason not to trust him, but I don’t have any reason to trust him, especially, either.
