Glenn Beck is Robert Fucking Langdon

So Rockefeller was a Commie Nazi? Figures.

Been done with being even MSTie-style entertained by the batshittiness of one Glenn Beck for a while now. I change the channel when they show his ridiculous clownish antics on any station. Makes for watching a lot less bad and irritating television, which is fine by me.

Beck makes me long for the Good Old Days, when the Right took their marching orders from somebody sane and respectable, like Nancy Reagan’s astrologer.

I can’t stand to watch the man for any extended period of time, but I often find him on in our staff lounge as I’m walking through. He always seems to be exaggerating his emotions and talking slowly like people do when they’re talking to children. (I even hated that when I was a kid.)

Well, he’s basically said himself that he’s a clown.

But the guy started out as a morning drive time DJ. A big part of that job, at least if he was anything like the morning DJs in most of the places I’ve lived in, is *pretending *to know a lot about politics. Think the Simpsons episode where the DJs got in trouble for offering Bart an elephant in a radio contest, and management threatened to replace with a machine that said stuff like “So, what about that congress.”
That’s exagerated I know, but one of the things they do is make broad assertions on some out-of-context sound clip or bit of information they heard somewhere. Nuance is virtually non-existent in their political conversations.
Combine that with a tendency many DJs have to lay on the madman shtick thick, and you can see how Beck is very much a product of that world. He’s basically Mancow but without the strippers, fart jokes and sex talk that might offend the religious wing of the Republican party.

Against my better judgment I’m going to check this out after work. If I lose my sanity, you, wierdaaron, will face the initiation you seem to have … cleverly avoided … until now.

Hey, don’t pick on Becky Vesey!!

Why do you hate America?

Is that Charles Darwin giving a ‘yo, dude’ gesture to the lower left?

No. He’s pointing at the parrot, with a “He said it, not me!” gesture.

Looks like Darwin to me, too.

I believe Beck is kind of an “anti-Jon Stewart” from a Bizzaro world. Sort of an anti-comedy comedy.

My longest viewing period has been 45 seconds. I had to manually raise my jaw closed.

Do you have access to tequila and bong water? Glen can be pretty enjoyable in the grip of giggling fits. Or course, so can the Weather Channel, but still…

Not enough dragonfly-men.

I asked the same question when we studied this is college, and was told it was not Darwin. I can’t remember who the professor said it was, though. Maybe Galileo?

One quote from that article fascinated me:

"The conservative writer David Frum said Mr. Beck’s success “is a product of the collapse of conservatism as an organized political force, and the rise of conservatism as an alienated cultural sensibility.”

It’s sad that legitimate conservative concerns about an issue (like big government, too much spending, and rationing for Health Care) fall flat in public discourse in favor for psychotic ramblings (Nazi/Obama, death panels, Obama’ brownshirts).

Clearly it’s Hitler in disguise.

(The parrot is Goering.)

Why would there be a statue of an angry Kenny Rogers in that painting? Beck may be on to something here.

Actually I thoughtOlbie was great in slamming this, especially when he points out that Beck himself also works in Rockefeller Center.

So the Rockefellers, by some accounts the first billionaires in U.S. history and a family that contributed Republican politicians, were really Commies.
*Some say Henry Ford was the first billionaire, others say Mellon, but they were all early billionaires.

I’m a bit disturbed by the zombie behind and to the left of Leon Trotsky.
