Don’t know if this belongs here or in MPSIMS, but Glenn Beck is coming to Houston on Friday the 18th, and we got tickets!!
I am really looking forward to this. I hear his show is hilarious!

I don’t know much about the guy, but I doubt this thread is going to get many responses. I think he’s thought of pretty negatively around here, from what I’ve read.
Curious what your personal opinion of Beck is, prior to seeing the show.
It’s Clothahump. He probably has a shrine to the guy in a closet…
Isn’t Glenn Beck the dickhead who freaked out when freshman congressman Keith Ellison decided to be sworn in on a Koran instead of a Bible for the ridiculius reason that Ellison is a Muslim and not a Christian?
Why am I not surprised.
He actually had the nerve to ask him point blank “Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies.”
He’s also the dickhead who compared global-warming activism to Nazism.
I nominated Beck for the stupidest person on television honors and was seconded. A search finds no ends of his utter imbecilities, misinformation, and smarminess.
A pretty much “all you need to know about Beck” can be summed up by watching his “interview” with John Hagee (if you can call it that)- I kept expecting the rabidly anti-Mormon and anti-everything-non-Hagee’s-beliefs pastor and the Mormon alcoholic to suddenly go Brokeback, but instead they did worse- on primetime television on a NEWS channel they compared a description of the Mahdi to a description of the anti-Christ to figure out if it was the same person (begins at 1:00).
Glenn Beck is Stephen Colbert but he is completly serious.
I really can’t stand anyone who uses a phrase like
'I don’t know much about X, but…" and goes to give his non-expert opinion and insist that the experts are only ‘so-called’ experts. Like just because you got a degree in economics means you know about how the economy works and stuff and I don’t.
Beck does this all the time.
He’s “coming to Houston”? What exactly does he do in his traveling show that he does not do on his TV show?
Wrestles women from the audience and then takes everyone out for milk and cookies in buses.
[or am I thinking of someone else?]
I remember some review of Laugh In referred to the late Dick Martin as “a man who got rich playing everyone’s obnoxious brother-in-law”. Glenn Beck seems to be carrying on the legacy.
Sorry everyone’s dumping on your enthusiasm, Clothahump, but I have to agree that G.B. is arguably the most annoying guy on TV, with the possible exception of pitchman Billy Mayes.
[EDIT: I wonder if the OP has just mis-remembered the name and meant someone really funny, like stand-up comic Ron White? I hope so!]
I blow right through Beck when I’m channel-surfing but he still manages to annoy me, because CNN Headline News is much louder than other channels and the volume blast is disconcerting.
Is that universal WRT CNN Headline News, or is that just a feature of the way it’s carried on Comcast in New Jersey?
I saw him lst may at the NRA con in Louisville. What Zebra notes was in evidence there, and went over quite well; not surprising since it was used by Ronald Reagan in “The Speech” in all its incarnations. And like Reagan, Beck comes across as a regular guy who likes you and wants to be liked by you.
Oh, and he advocated war with Iran.
Glenn Beck and Nancy Grace, trapped in a burning phone booth – now that’s funny.
I know phone booths aren’t constructed from flammable materials. You have to add fuel.
Now, if you want a really funny right-winger, try . . .
. . .
Crap.
Who is there? Dennis Miller hasn’t been funny for more than a decade. P.J. O’Rourke lost his chops when he left National Lampoon. Limbaugh and Coulter and that ilk are good only for laughing at. Mallard Fillmore makes The Family Circus look like the height of wit.
Why is the right so humor-impaired?!
When I go to AMC theaters, in the pre-show advertisements there’s an ad for watching Glenn Bleck’s live show streamed to select theaters. The catch is the ad makes him look like a stand-up comedian and not a radio/TV personality. I didn’t even know who he was until my friends pointed it out. :dubious:
