Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally will not be political (& other Tea Party nonsense)

You misspelled “cretin”.

It was meant as a joke.
Then again, the truth is that trickle down economics is a load of tosh, Obama isn’t a socialist Muslim, tax cuts for the rich don’t benefit anyone but the rich, Iraq was invaded for oil profits, and the US health care system is FUBAR. So you see, clear and obvious lefty bias

Comon man, be reasonable. Saying anyone has a deep seated hatred for white people is making an issue of skin color isn’t it?

In fact if you listen to Obama’s remarks about the arrest he was the one who didn’t make race an issue. He actually said he didn’t know if race had anything to do with it but he understood someone being mad about being arrested in their own home.

Dr Gates was his friend. His friend was arrested in his own home after the officer knew it was his home and there was no break in. As President he shouldn’t have commented at all but there’s nothing in his words to indicate race was an issue. If that incident was the one that prompted Beck’s remarks about Obama being a racist then Beck drew a rather large conclusion from words that did not make race an issue. If you and Beck are making the connection in your own mind, “Gates is Black, Obama’s Black” so Obama’s comments are based on racism., then it’s you two that are making it a race issue. Judge Obama’s words not what you think his motives were, and then judge Beck’s words.
Clearly, it’s Beck who made a large racial issue out of it by claiming Obama had a deep seated hatred for white people. The reasonable thing would have been to do what Obama did. 'I don’t know if race was an issue" To go from Obama’s rather innocuous comments ,to deep seated hatred, is a giant leap based on racial perceptions.

I haven’t watched it yet. How many religious groups were actually represented by people? I know he’s Christian so I expect him to stress that somewhat but as our country becomes more diverse the focus has to be on the principles he mentioned not religion and especially not one particular brand.
We’ll see how it goes from here. I’ve never seen him extend anything similar to Christian charity in his distortions and attacks on people. He seems to be moving toward libertarian and that’s okay, if he can be an honest one.

I just don’t understand people who associate Palin and beck with 'honor". Just exactly do they think the word means? Palin had a teenage daughter knocked up (and of course she was knocked up herself) and she tried to make her get married to the father who is clearly not ready for marriage and fatherhood and who later posed for Play Girl. Meanwhile she quit the office she was elected to and for which she took an oath on the bible. Then of course there are her many outright lies on healthcare which set back progress on UHC for years. What does it look like to not have honor?

I know gay, atheist dads who raise well mannered kids, volunteer at schools raising money, keep neat yards, and shop for their elderly neighbors. Do they somehow have less ‘honor’ then scumbags like Palin and Beck because they don’t go to church?

He’s a Mormon. One day when we have a theocracy he’ll be stoned to death along with other heretics.

I don’t think it will turn out that way. The anti government sentiment they’re capitalizing on is widespread and real. I think if they control the racist lunatic fringe and soften the message as they did at the rally they will gain momentum.

I mentioned before that there was a political rally afterwards with Michelle Bachman and another republican, asking folks not to throw the good candidates out. {guess who they mean?} Later on his showed he and his guest David Barton whose site Wallbuilders seems to stress Christianity, referred to Bachman as a wonderful Christian woman. We’ll see how open they actually are to our diversity.

Beck blew his opportunity. He could have stood out there and discussed things like integrity, responsibility, accountability, perseverance, etc., but no - what does he do? He babbles his ass off about religion.

He might as well change his show to compete with Joel Osteen at the Lakewood church here in Houston, or Billy Graham and his ilk, or the Farting Preacher. I wish he would STFU about how we need to be prayin’ ta gawd all the time. Our country got to be great in spite of religion, not because of it.

right! Once Palin uses him to become President she’ll have Mormonism declared a cult, at which point Glenn will switch denominations.

I want to hear more about this Farting Preacher character. Is he on YouTube?

The principles and a person’s character matter much more than their religious beliefs or lack of them. Im don’t care if someone is Christian or Buddhist, Muslim or whatever. Stressing a particular religion in a country this diverse is going to create a lot more problems than it solves.
Because of the Bachman rally right after Beck’s and the references on his show to her I think it’s just a backdoor appeal to Conservative Christians seen as the GOP base. I think the general public will reject that. I just hope we don’t do it with hatefulness and hurling insults. THat only aides in the divisiveness and helps those despicable people who make money by being hate and fear mongers.

Blessed be the bean and broccoli makers for they shall receive flatulence.

Maybe we need to get Rachel Maddow to profile some folks like that just to show society that it’s about who you are, reflected in your actions, not clinging to a label about what you claim to believe.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

The fact that Beck could claim a rally Sarah Palin was speaking at was apolitical, with a straight face, is quite impressive.

Drove through that area for the first time a couple weeks ago. Saw many a sign saying “oppose the government created water shortage.” So yeah, they’d fit right in with the teabaggers holding signs saying “hey socialist obama: keep your hands off my medicare!”

I’ve seen one on youtube before but I’ve never seen that one. The coordination with his words and expressions was hilarious.

She said, “Sir, I offer you my honor.” He said, “Madame, I honor your offer.” And that was how it went all night – honor, offer, honor, offer . . .

By a strange coincidence, Beck is being interviewed today By Chris Wallace on his FoxNews Sunday Talk show. I’m watching it now. This will be the most I’ve ever seen of Beck, as I’ve only watched a few minutes of his show. Should be interesting. Or not.

ETA: To Beck’s credit, one of the first things he said is: “I am not a journalist”.

The fact that some actually believe crap like that is sad.
