Glenn Becks targets Frances Fox Piven (of "Cloward-Piven"); "targets" fitting word

Because she’s now getting death threats on his website.

I can’t actually wish death on anyone on this board, even Beck, even in the Pit. I say only that somebody, somewhere, should DO SOMETHING.

I’ll just get my vest and handgun. Meet you at the car in 5!

Way too many words up there.

What do you think of that union targeting the Walmart developer’s house? I suppose the smiley face in the middle of the target makes it ok?

Sorry about the question marks.

I’m just glad that the rhetoric has finally calmed down. The important thing is that we don’t use gun metaphors any more. It’s still perfectly fine to declare people to be EVIL CONSPIRATORIAL MASTERMINDS WHO HAVE NEARLY BROUGHT CIVILIZATION TO IT’S KNEES BEFORE AND WILL NOT REST UNTIL THEY HAVE COMPLETE DOMINATION OVER THE ENTIRE GLOBE AND ALSO MADE EVERYONE GET GAY MARRIED AND HAVE UNIVERSAL BUT JOB KILLING HEALTH CARE!!! Just don’t use any more of that gun talk. People don’t like that as much any more.

I’m glad to see that we’ve all learned our lesson.

Sorry. I’ll summarize in words of two syllables or fewer.

“Glenn Beck spent many many shows claiming that these people are evil left-wing monsters who did many bad things. Many of the readers of Beck’s website have said that those people should be killed. Killed a lot. Killed now. And they use Beck’s words to support this view.”

Still too many words? How about “Beck say her much bad. Beck friends say 'kill now.”?

Nice try on the false equivalence thing though. Given that even that blatantly partisan website suggests that the worst thing the protesters did was walk on the guy’s lawn, I’m not seeing a parallel with directly inspiring at least one person to arm themselves to go commit mass murder, and then continuing to use the same rhetoric with regard to other people.

In before right wing apologists!

I wonder if we’ll have the “well, the guy got stopped before he killed anyone, therefore crazy calls to violence are ok” angle or the “hey, no one takes anyone seriously when they spend their days telling other people how specific people are traitors trying to destroy everything they love via prominent media outlets” angle. Or maybe the “the guy is clearly a leftist!” angle!

So weak, it’s not even a logical fallacy - unless Piven commissioned that graphic.

I think, as should you, that when you get to “a mob of SEIU astro-turfing thugs” there’s really no point in reading any further.

Oh, fuck me, not this Tu Quoque horseshit again of “Hey, here are a few isolated examples of fringe loonies on your side acting like assholes, so that makes you just evil.”

Frances Fox Piven interviewed about the Beck campaign against her.

Even if you take the story at face value, they are not acting like loonies or even assholes, or if they are then America needs a lot more of this kind of assholery.

Say, does anyone know where the Koch Brothers live? Or Richard Mellon Scaife? Or Roger Ailes?

It’s still a more civilized response than anything analogous we see on the RW side. Like what’s described in the OP link.

Words can teach us things. Reading is fundamental and all. And honestly, it’s not like you’re doing anything more important, dear.

No, it doesn’t, and they shouldn’t do that. Now what?

Hey Joe … tuck your quoque back in your pants and calm down. This is the pit, right? I can say anything I want and use as many question marks as I want, can’t I?

Kind of like the Washington Post… Washington Post mind you… story about the “radical” “band” of Republicans proposing to “slash” the budget that I saw yesterday.

I can’t find it now… could they have taken it down and cleaned up the language a little?

Yup. And the rest of us can call you on it.

I think that is bad. What do you think about the actual fucking OP?

Sorry it is too many words for you.

Oh, won’t someone think of the seedlings!

I’m really glad you post here and I hope you don’t go away. It’s useful to have a reminder and an example of just how fucking stupid some people can be.

Hey, those were going to be valuable barter items, one day! (That’s a Glen Beck joke.)

What really bugs me about this guy is thaht whenever anyone says anything even mildly critical of him, he immediately wets his pants and announces that he’s going to be wearing body armor for a while. Which obviously wouldn’t stop the bullet in the head he wants me to catch.

Someone should really do something about Glenn Beck. I’m not going to say what, but hopefully that person has a healthy respect for the 2nd Amendment…and all the other Amendments but especially the 2nd. And the thing that they do will hopefully make Beck unable to keep doing the things he does. Or moving.

Again, I’m not going to say WHAT should be done, only that it should be done soon, hopefully when he’s outsomewhere vulnerable…to nature, like rain, you know, out in the open. And alone, not near a hospital. Cause they’re so socialist
