Global Doper Kid Mail/Postcard Exchange

Shibb I either didn’t get mine, or my outlook filters ate it. could you resend to me please.

Got it and hopefully I replied in a coherent manner…

been a long day with a trip to the dentist this mornin…

Shibb – I said I’d take 10 kids, by which I meant I’d send 10 postcards. If you want to send sets of sibs, that’s okay by me.

I’m just checking this quickly then packing to go home for the second time today. I’ll respond to the other posts in here from home. Mastema, I could practically walk this over to you, you live so close to me. Scary, isn’t it. Actually I live in Blue Ash (I’m working in Finneytown right now). I’ll resend the sheet when I get home.

Sure, just tie it to a rock and throw it across the river if you don’t mind.

We’ll just make sure we don’t send to each other, as a postcard from “just up the street” isn’t much to talk about.

I just finished writing one card to each kid on the list. Mostly short notes, but the cards were interesting. I signed them all “The Captain” just in case anyone was curious as to who it was. I will drop all of them off in the post tomorrow.

dbygawdcapn, now I know how to pronounce your name. And I thought it was Welsh or something. Cool.

Mastema, I’m trying to take into account locations so that we don’t have the two people on the list in Mississippi sending postcards to each other, for example. I’d just tie ours to a rock and toss it across the river, but I don’t want Kentucky accusing Ohio of having WoMD!

In case anyone is wondering…
According to the USPS web site, it cost 23 cents to send a normal-sized postcard within the U.S. It costs 70 cents to send one to Australia.

I’m writing cards to all the kids while I’m waiting for the refrigerator repair guy to show up.

dbygawdcapn we got your card this morning. Thanks so much Josiah was having a bad morning. It helped to improve his morning and mood immensely!

Thanks again!

Hey, dbygawdcapn, thanks for the card! My son got it this morning and is thrilled with Dracula  He’s a big Buffy fan so the vampire turned out to be very appropriate for him.

Shibb, I didn’t get the email so we could send out some cards. What’s the matter, is Rhode Island not exotic enough?

I just finished writing up all of mine - hope my handwriting is legible!! I’ll be taking them to the post office in the morning and they’ll be on their merry ways.

This was fun!

Just in case you’re all interested, I just spent about an hour and a half updating with info sent and organizing (and tending to a couple of work items). Just as I had the whole thing done, I decided to print out the result so that I could check that the spreadsheet was as complete as possible. At which point I got a spooler error and Windows locked Excel and ate the changes to the spreadsheet. Fortunately the print out worked, so I have the changes in hardcopy, but now I’ll have to update the spreadsheet again. But first I need to go home and see my family. I should get the updates out tonight, just a little later than I initially thought.

Also, I noted that at least 3 folks couldn’t deal very well with the spreadsheet, so I’ll send out in a more universal format, probably pasting directly into the body of the email.

sigh

You’re welcome. It was truly my pleasure. When is Round Two?

**dbygawdcapn ** , we got your card this weekend!

Lilpotomus was thrilled that mail came for her and she was fascinated by The Phantom. Thanks so much!

I’ll be sending cards out tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

Tons of cards arrived for our little ones today. Moxmaiden is the one handling the exchange but she won’t be online for a bit because the PC went all melty on us this weekend. I’ll be getting new parts and rebuilding it in a couple of weeks but until then I’ll be checking her email and such for her from work. I’ve printed the latest spreadsheet she got from Shibb for her and the kids to get cracking on the postcards she bought. She’s got some nifty ones to send out.

Enjoy,
Steven

My kids have received three postcards already!

How cool is that?!

I was gone this weekend to scenic Holland, MI. The stores shut down at 5pm and are not open on Sunday. Damn Dutch.

So, I will have to find postcards from nearby.

LilMiss received two today… the only mail received, which made her extremely happy. Made me happy also- no bills!
We have the cards, need to divvy it up (she’s writing 1/2 of the postcards, I’m writing 1/2-- figured when the penpal e-mail comes around she’ll have enough writing to do… and yeah, I wanted to write also)

I’m supposed to be sending postcards already?

Shite!

We’ve gotten some too! My son was geeked right outta his face to get completely unexpected mail. He wouldn’t even let me see them until he’d stared at the front and read the backs at least three times.

“Mother, it’s addressed to ME, thank you.”

We’ve had a lot of stuff come up in the last week or so, so I’ve been tardy, but now that my boy is begging for postcard shopping excursions, we’ll get ours out too. Great idea, Shibb.

Nocturne, don’t panic. If yours go out later, it’ll prolong the fun for the kids. I’ll be sending another batch out next week when I’m on vacation… at least that’s the plan.
