Global Doper Kid Mail/Postcard Exchange

Another thank you to everyone who’s sent out cards, 3 cheers for Shibb putting it all together.
I had to make a dollar store run for more magnets to get them all on the fridge, the preferred viewing spot to ensure all assorted visitors get to see them. I found myself sending postcards to almost everyone we know, just got really carried away with it. Weird how fun it is even for grownups to get a simple postcard, anything unexpected in the mail that’s not a bill is a thrill.
When we went to the post office to mail off our international ones, we found a really neat set of all 50 state postcards for only $8, nice pics and informative stuff. Not as swoopty as ones recieved in the mail, of course, but still cool to look at.

Hi everyone, I’ve been (relatively) anonymous on the Boards lately, but we’ve gotten several postcards, forwarded even though we’re on vacation.

First of all, you all rock! Truly.

Second, there was a bit of early enthusiasm on who was ‘assigned’ to whom, I really didn’t intend the initial spreadsheet that way at all, just people kind of read into it, and I let it go from there. But my concern is that there might be a couple of kids who didn’t receive any, although I’m fairly certain that most have. As a bit of an aside, I left my very long standing job with a big US multi-national at the end of June, so it was a lot of work to try and transfer all of my files, etc. I had to buy a new laptop to transfer them to, and then found that I don’t have an Excel compatible program on this machine to work with. Net, I can’t even read the original file myself. I should be able to translate it tomorrow, though. If your child has not received any postcards, then please email me and I’ll work with the folks here to rectify it. I am anyway sending one to every kid, and maybe some of the grownups, that have emailed. The first 25% or so are out already, more to come this week.

Third, there have been a couple of folks who belatedly saw the thread and have been asked to have their child included. I’m going to forward those addresses around tomorrow as well, so if you have the inclination then please send a postcard along to them (everyone’s done such a super job on participation so far that I’m a bit reluctant to ask for more, but it’s fun to know you’re brightening a kid’s day).

Fourth (and finally), I will also try and send out the penpal stuff this week, or at latest next. We should be back in Ohio from our extended vacation/holiday then, so I’ll have more sit down time.

Thanks again for all of your patience and participation!

well I obviously missed an email somewhere in the spam or am a complete moronn because I never got anyone to send postcards to sniff so please remember me if there are kids who need cards.

Thanks

tanookie, I just checked and you ARE on my email distribution. I’ll be sending the list around again and will post here when I do. If you see the post but don’t get an email then your filters might be blocking it out. Let’s see how that works. There are about 30-40 kids on the list. We might need to do a bit of a poll here or in email to see who is highest priority right now, but I would probably start with the new kids who are added.

For the record, I know each kid should have gotten at least 2 cards, because I mailed out 2 batches to everyone on the list. Now, if the USPS ate them, then who knows… Near as I can figure, it cost me about $10-12 per batch, including postage. That’s a pretty cheap way to brighten the day of so many young 'uns. When the dust settles a bit, I may send out some more.

You can send me the names of any additions - everyone should get a card from Florida!
