Perhaps it’s a stretch, but bemuse is defined as “to make confused” by Merriam Webster online. To be confused is to be “perplexed or disconcerted”. The third definition of fret as an intransitive verb gives “vexed or worried”. The word “bemused” has taken on connotations of “wry or tolerant amusement”, which may have been the sense you were aiming for, but that was far from clear in context.

I know I’ve answered your first point before. Nope. Most people your age or older know damn well how the African ancestors of our African-Americans got here. Even in Texas Public Schools, we learned that history–I’m pretty sure I’m in the right age range. Of course, we didn’t get the full story Which is why any intelligent person continues educating themselves for the rest of their life. What am I saying? If you did respond before (and why the hell are you now so long after my post?), I’d have told you that you have no way of knowing what the people I checked with did or did not know. Bully for you for having gone to a school that taught you that, tho all you say is you think you are in the right age range - given you didn’t get anything else right, I wonder.

Also, despite how important you may feel you are, not everyone has the same interests that you do. To vilify someone just because they didn’t question something they thought they knew about history is pretty idiotic. There will be subjects that I will know far more about than you, but I am intelligent enough to not think less of you for it. Acting like a complete jackass on the other hand…
