Green Bean that was great, so fitting. If you notice I choose to ignore the moronic rumblings of a boy (who also probably has cooties, shudder) so thanks for holding up our end. He just doesn’t understand fun, right?
If you are ever in the L.A. area, I would love to go to a baseball game with you. I would even go to a dreaded Yankee game. We could cheer for different teams, argue about the good and bad of players stats AND judge the looks (or lack thereof) of the different players.
Hmm. Odd that no As fans have posted to this thread for the past two days. . .
If the last four years have proven nothing else, they’ve shown that the Yanks play best when their backs are to the wall (although they haven’t been in that position very often). Just when you think they’re dead and buried, they rise up out of the grave, pull the stake from their hearts, and whup ass.
If the As can beat The Rocket twice in a row I will tip my hat to them, and will wish them the best in the next round.
oh, yeah, the Yankees think they’re so cool now… of course, they had to take out one of the A’s with a broken lag to do it…
damn Yankees…
I do hope that both the A’s and Indians can pull it together in their respective game 5’s… I’m sick of the Yankees, and, again, I’m maritally obligated to root for the Indians, which I don’t mind, but its not like I dislike the Mariners or anything.
Yes, yes. In fact, I can already tip my hat to them. Through this series, I have gained a lot of respect for them as a team. For example, game 3 was an amazing pitching match-up. When you consider the $10,000,000 salary of Mussina with the $240,000 salaray of Zito, it becomes even more amazing. The A’s have managed to build a heck of a team on a tiny budget.
There has been some talk of the Yankees trying to hire some of the guys who will become free-agents this year, like Giambi and Damon. On one hand, I hope the Yankees get them, because I’m a Yankee fan. On the other, I hope they stay with the A’s, because I really like this A’s team. Unfortunately, they probably won’t stay with the A’s. I do bemoan the seeming greediness of professional sports stars, but I really can’t blame Giambi if he turns down 4 or 5 million for more than 10 million per year. That’s a huge difference.
Anyway, I am looking forward to game 5. I feel really bad that Jermaine Dye won’t be in the game (poor guy!!). But Clemens won’t be at his best, either–so maybe that’ll save us.
In an unrelated rant–I wish those damned announcers would stop saying–“In this, which could be [insert name]'s last game as a Yankee.” Okay, we get the point–person X may be retiring and persons Y,Z, and Q will be free agents. But, so you have to harp on it every time they make a play or come to bat? Let’s face it, any game could be anybody’s last. It’s just depressing to keep talking about it.
oh, pooh. stop it with this whole “reality” thing…
of course, I should reply… “and who threw the pitch that careened off his bat? If it had been a simpler pitch, this would not have happened”… but that might make me look even more insane…
The Yankees Win… theeeeeeee Yankees Win!
I think all you A’s fans forgot that you DO NOT BRAG until you actaully have won something.
Nice try Oakland, better luck next year.
