I wonder if part of the problem is the forum title, “General Questions”. If a person doesn’t read the descriptions it does sound like they can go ahead and ask whatever kind of question they want. It says General " not confined by specialization or careful limitation", not Specific. It’s really a forum for questions with factual answers, a specific type of question.
Not that I’m excusing people for not reading the descriptions, but people sometimes don’t.
Yep, a lot of American schools get out for the summer in May. And whenever school’s out over here, we get trolls. Mind you, I haven’t even read the thread in question here, so I’m certainly not accusing the OP of trolling.
It’s always September somewhere. Here in the northern hemisphere, we’re always inundated with trolls for Chinese September (which occurs in May here). You see, in September, Chinese students all go to university. And there are so many of them that inevitably a few of them figure out how to use the Taiwanese Interweb, which has Freedom[sup]TM[/sup]. So they use it to say things only they don’t speak very English and then there are so many that a few of them are bound to come off as less-than-intelligent. So, like I said, it’s always September somewhere.

This might be the most unwarranted Pitting I’ve ever seen. The OP is new here, had a question about filing a complaint with the police, and posted in the General Questions forum. For that, you accuse them of trolling? Seriously, you’ve been here since 1999, and of all threads, this thread struck you as something that needed to be Pitted? I’ve read through the other thread three times now, and there’s absolutely nothing in there that would suggest trolling. I don’t even understand what

Y’know, Evil Ghandi, I’d like to call your attention to the button that appears on every post, labelled “Report Bad Post” … it’s a cute li’l exclamation point in a box in the upper right corner, on my viewer. It’s a wonderful little invention that allows you call a Moderator when you think that a topic is placed in the wrong forum, for instance, or in other circumstances when you think a Moderator might be helpful.
I’m just sayin.
To be fair, I think the guy was just in a really crappy mood and lost his cool. No big deal. He DID apologize for it, after all.
