First! Woot!
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/55f with a predicted high of 17c/62f and cloudy. Weather app says “OK, Annie. I thought you said the fucking sun will come out tomorrow. You’re fucking wrong, Annie.”
No holiday here, just plain old Monday but at least I’m working at home so that’s a small bonus for me. Grocery shopping at lunchtime, and off to the gym tonight. The rest of the week will be busy, and I already have one minion off sick. Ho hum.
Monday is the last day of live horse racing at my local track, so you better bet (heh) that I’ll be there. Our weather has been lousy, and it snowed all day Sunday, but tomorrow, we should get some sun and better temps. Hopefully, it should be a fast track, but I can handicap for an off-track, so no matter what happens, I’ll be having fun. The track restaurant is laying on a Thanksgiving turkey dinner too, but I’ll more likely go for a Big Smokey grilled sausage from the outdoor grill near the paddock.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 87 and sunny. Not a whole lot planned for the day, but we will have a sorta kinda Turkey Day sup in honor of Canadian Turkey Day, I guess. OYKW cooked the collards yestiddy (they are better cooked and eaten the next day) and we will have those along with chikin’ ‘n dressin’ (had some cornbread dressin’ already made up in da freezer), field peas with snaps, squish casserole, giblet gravy (had some giblets in da freezer), cranberry sauce (from the can, as we like the “schwump” kind) and rolls. Really it’s only a couple of hours cookin’ time altogether, so it’s not like I will spend the day in the kitchen. There will of course, as is our wont, be the usual RDOS sloth.
FlyBoy hope the missus is not too hungover today.
Spoons have fun at the races. A good grilled snausage is hard to pass up.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Starting at 57 Ferrets, and by Weds, highs will be in the upper 80s, according to Accuweather. Then Saturday’s high will be in the 50s, dropping into the 30s overnight. So bizarre… but today, the rain has just about run its course, and we might even see sun this afternoon.
Speaking of Saturday, I’ll have the grandspawn overnight. Tobias had asked when they could do a sleepover again, since it had be “so long” - maybe a whole month!!! They’ll be dropped off after lunch, then picked up after lunch on Sunday. I’ll make sure the studio is ready so they can make stuff in clay - that should keep them occupied for a little while.
I got an email this morning from PetSmart saying four hundred and some-odd points were about to expire!!! Oh Noooz!!! So I looked at our account. 97¢ Um, pretty sure I won’t be rushing 15 miles away for that.
Today’s plans include a run to Food Lion before the sale on diet coke expires and a stop at CVS for my BP meds. And, as mentioned, finishing the studio organization. And FCD might need me to do some painting on the latest cabinet he’s building. So maybe busy a bit. Tomorrow, I’ll be meeting my mom and sister in Gambrills for lunch, which will cut a chunk out of the middle of my day - the restaurant is a tad over an hour away. And we get our Fall HVAC service on Thursday - much excitement this week.

It’s a brisk 37F, dark, and clear outside. We are expecting sunshine, with a daytime high of 62F. It was quite brisk yesterday morning, too, and I am debating whether to turn on the heat. I turned on the gas fireplace yesterday and again this morning when I got up, but it’s supposed to warm up a little this week, so I don’t want to turn on the heat yet.
CatGlove, I hope your husband is feeling less tired today. I meant The Great British Baking Show, with Paul Hollywood as one of the judges. I like watching it because it’s so “quiet” compared to the American baking contest shows. When I had cable, I got CBC, but now I stream everything via Firestick, so I’m not sure. I only subscribe to a few things: Netflix, Prime, HBOMax, Acorn, BBC, PBS Masterpiece, Apple TV, and Starz. We watch my son’s Hulu account. I go through periods, where I drop one “channel”, and stream something else. I don’t pay for the highest tier (No ads) through Prime, so I do get some ads. But I manage to keep my streaming costs below 75 bucks a month, at least for now. That is way less than I paid Comcast for cable. I still pay them for internet, though.

I might try to nap today. I had a busy weekend with my son and Zeus being here, and I got even less sleep than normal. On top of waking up on my own multiple times last night, my husband woke me several times, too. So, I’m kind of tired today. I really need to get out and mow the backyard, though. Sigh.
I don’t plan to go anywhere today, especially since it’s a Federal holiday. Too many people will be out and about.
Hm, my coffee cup is empty, and I need some more. I guess I’ll get another cup, browse the internet for a bit, then finish loading the last of the dishes into the dishwasher.

Oh yeah, sugar hangovers are the worse. Get her some tomato juice fer puking and then shovel yogurt down her throat when she’s able to handle food. She has my sympathy.
I agree. Its refreshing listening to people share their tools instead of fighting over ingredients. I don’t really watch though. I listen while stitching.

It was foggy this morning but it is breaking up now. That’s good, we had planned on a long drive today and fog isn’t great for looking at the forest. It is wonderfully gloomy and gothic, so more suited for watching Dark Shadows and stitchin’
We will stop at the high skool and drop off the snack box on the way. Recently I’ve been donating three dozen hard boiled eggs a week and the library lady says they are always the first to go. Poor families lost their food stamps to trump cuts and the mine is slowing down so the dads are bringing home short paychecks.
Oh, how delightful, the mom Cardinal brought over a couple of fledglings and are showing them what sunflower seeds are.
Good Morning. Mrs Magill works for a bank, so has the day off. I… don’t. I found out I could be out of the bed, cleaned, face shaved, fed, and caffeinated in under forty minutes. I didn’t like it though.
Mrs Magill and Squeaky will be working on college applications today. He did get a letter Saturday stating that, due to his grades, he has automatic acceptance to about eight state schools, one of which is his emergency backup school. He is still gunning for UA-Huntsville, as NASA is right there and, if he can score a 31 on his ACT, tuition will be covered.

Flyboy - You and the Missus may need to talk about the religion thing. Mrs Magill has tried to get me confirmed a couple of time, but she is aware of my views - basically, if the is a god, he’s more likely a Jeffersonian Prime Mover than anything else. She also knows I have a deep distrust of organized religion. I like our church, but I do not trust The Church.
I do have some transition observations, but I’ll stick them in my transition thread, rather than suck up the oxygen here yet again.
Back to August weather here in no. Illinois. Gonna be in the upper 80s today. Yesterday it was warm and my a/c, set at 76, kicked on.
Getting my hair cut today. Going out to dinner later. Patty melt here I come!
I’ve tried to explain that my upbringing was strictly secular, and it will take me more time.
Anyway, she’s fine this morning. She arose before I did and gave Goo her medicated food, then went and read her Bible for half a while. She apologised for getting drunk, and thanked me for cleaning up her vomit. She told me not to let her drink again. Last night was the first such episode in years.
Morning all. Slept in till nearly 8am today with minimal micturation so hopefully after rampaging with wild abandon this weekend my bladder will resume normal operations. Need to go to the tire repair place and see what’s what and also get the shop and sammich run in, and signed up to referee a soccer game tonight about 5:30pm, so a pretty full day for me. It’s 65 heading to 87F, with almost no chance of rain for the week and high’s in the 80’sF so fall is not quite here yet.
Flyboy, hope the Missus isn’t too hung over today. And I see she is doing well, that is good but bringing out those deep-held emotions…guess you’ll see.
And time to dress appropriately and get about the tire and shopping and eating stuff. Take care all and have a good week.

I had some Fraternity brothers offer to take him to lunch while he was at NC State Engineering camp. Which is really nice, but would be strictly verbotten to have non-related adults take a minor off campus. You’d think high school principals would have thought that through.

I went to a Quaker school and “Kill, Quakers, kill!” is familiar to me. Mostly we just held up signs with our average SAT scores.
48°F with 60° expected. I didn’t plant my garlic yesterday; perhaps today. I will make miso soup for dinner, so I may be going out to get tofu. (Now, I don’t hassle any of y’all about frozen lasagna in a box, so don’t you give me grief about tofu!)
I have book proofs back (for shifting my novel from KDP to IngramSpark), so I must read and make corrections over the next few days. I also need to finish returning my travel clothes and gear to the correct shelves, and make a list of anything that needs repair or replacing.
The kitties, who are approximately 1 year old this week (splitting the difference between their purported birthdays), are maniacs.

Well, the building heated up to 80 inside, and the AC is, of course, off. Can’t open the slider windows because a) there are all manor of insects trapped between the screen and the window and b) you have to have some major heft to even move those suckers because “slider” is just a notion these days. We have one of the awning windows open and fans running, but I’m cranky.
I was going to make the green chili stew today so it could meld overnight for eldest son’s visit, but it too fucking hot in here to cook anything. And I’m cranky.
I opened a new box of Breathe Right strips last night, not realizing that I had purchased the “extra strong” version, and nearly ripped off my nose this morning. So I took them all down to the swap table, in case someone can use them. Did I mention that I’m cranky?

I worked but only 1-3/4 hrs, part of that was filling out the form needed to get my flu and covid shots tomorrow at the employee vaccine clinic. Also had to contact a company that said we hadn’t paid an invoice from July. When I replied to their email last Wednesday requesting a copy of said invoice since we had never received it, the reply I received was that I had emailed an unmonitored email address. Heck, so I called the company’s main phone number today and the woman who answered the phone had such incredibly great phone skills, Terri in Indiana Thank You. So, invoice has been received and manager will be authorizing for payment and entering into AP system.
Am now filtering water, making breakfast (veggie & cheese omelette), filling out paperwork for dermatology appointment this afternoon, and will be going to credit union to deposit some checks. And having a cup of lemon mint tea (I boiled the water in a pot on the stove 
). Actually I made a pot of tea so I’m on my third cup now. Also folded some laundry.
Also, thank you to FCM and Swampy for sharing that Sari continues to post on Facebook. Hoping that her health issues have been resolved.
Well, I have some ground turkey in the freezer that is now out and thawing so we’ll have turkey burgers. I’ll have to check downstairs and see if there is any cranberry sauce in the bodega. Oh wait, there’s some cranberries in the freezer. ok, we’ll be ready to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving.
Taters thanks for asking about Hubs, he’s feeling a lot better today, just the wee-est bit tired and otherwise good except for his thumb. I think it’s like a trigger finger/thumb thing. He had it with the other thumb a few years ago and the Dr gave him a shot into it which cleared it up. He called several weeks ago and was given an appt on Oct 29 so just 2-1/2 weeks left to wait and deal with the pain.
Yes, I understood that. I watched an old episode on CBC last evening. Then I watched the Great Canadian Baking Show which is better because the judges aren’t as critical like Paul Hollywood, he can be nasty in his comments. I don’t watch any American baking shows.

Afternoon.
Went in to do some tidying; I had forgotten I had some really weird junk. Still some more to do, cos I was chatting a lot and some stuff needed leaving to soak for ages in disinfectant.
I ordered a new handrail for the house- the one that came with it was far too short for regs, attached weirdly, and was on top of several layers of textured wallpaper. I only measured approximately, cos I wasn’t 100% sure exactly where I’d want it to end, so I bought the slightly longer one, figuring I was going to have to cut it shorter anyway.
It got delivered today, and I discovered I maybe didn’t think things through too well… it was so long I can’t get it through the door and on the staircase. It’s almost too long to get in the house. I was assuming I’d could just leave it on the stairs, take my time to measure it fully, probably later in the week (they didn’t tell me it would be delivered today). The only possible place to put it is basically right in the middle of the floor and I need to slide it out the way to even open the front or back doors, and I can’t shut the kitchen one… Oops.
At least I can actually shut both outside doors, it’s close!
