Gobble ‘Til You Wobble, Or Not In The MMP

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 0300, so it’s time for Screaming Tuxedo Zoomies.

I’m in the South, so gizzards are also deep fried and eaten as a snack.

So I can look forward to dropping things that I’m not eaven holding in my hands? Great. Glad they at least found a cause.

You don’t have to worry till she tells you to go outside and replace the AE-35 unit.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 80 and cloudy. Rain is predicted tomorrow. We shall see. It’s laundry day. Woo and Hoo. I plan to make the dressin’ this morning’ as well as boil aigs for deviled aigs and to go in the giblet gravy. Turkey is completely thawed, so yay. RDOS inactivities will take up the afternoon. Sup will be boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread cause easy.

Coppertone yay for the nice surprise. Warm slippers are proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. Lotion is always nice.

Nellie the wives moved to north Jawja last year to be closer to family. We talk and text from time to time, but they won’t be here. Glad you heard from neighbor. Yet another thing to look forward to as we age. Hope the treatment is relatively easy. We don’t have Alexa cause we’re Luddites that way. Perhaps we should be glad we don’t especially if she is becomin’ sentient. :grimacing:

JtC I have no doubts those nuns and orphans would deserve it.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

:open_mouth: Dunno what it’s like on your preferred route, but I95 of the Sunday after Turkey Day is pure, unadulterated hell! We drove it a couple of times and it took at least 3 hours more because of the amount of traffic and “why the heck are we stopping in South Carolina on the interstate?” Hope your way isn’t that awful.

That is creepy! Do you have the Alexa app? I think there are ways to turn off a lot of the functions. I disabled several that were annoying. I’ll have a look and see what might help you stop it, unless someone beats me to it.

Speaking of whom, I just got the reminder to go get my blood drawn. Laterz! And Happy Tuesday!!!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/40f with a predicted high of 6c/42f and mostly sunny. Weather app says “You can take the fucking sun and shove it up your fucking ass.” Bit rude, don’t you think?

It all sounds like a perfect few days, and from your other posts, exactly what you need.

The sudden decision about the pet policy did sound a bit odd, especially as it had never been mentioned before. I am sorry that you’re minus a director again, but glad that you’ve got rid of a shady one.

Very sensible - you don’t need to become some college student’s amateur film-making project later!

Poor little guy must be confused with Abbey seemingly unbothered by him but Goo being hostile. Muffin is hostile towards both Blossom and Cherry, we know it’s because she’s never been around other cats but we’d hoped by now she’s realise they want to be friends with her, and aren’t a threat.

Hurrah! Another thing off your list. I hope you manage to get the recliner in (and the other one out)! Keeping appendages crossed for Max’s person too, hope there is some good news there.

I am sure it will be greatly appreciated, and your stock of karma points will continue to increase.

I have had a sore throat for a couple of days, today I am in full-on snotty snuffle mode. Just what I need the day before i have to drive us just over 300 miles to Scotland. I have medication and cough syrup so I’m dosing myself up and hoping I feel 100% better in the morning.

Busy work day too, I had a meeting with our stand-in manager today which went quite well. I doubt she’ll be able to progress much of what’s on my list but I’ve asked her to offer a catch-up meeting to my troublesome minion.

I have some stuff to work on this afternoon before I finish, and have already planned that I should not have anything to hand over to the other admins when I log off today. There’s nothing urgent that they need to be involved with, and nothing that shouldn’t keep until i get back.

Dr’s office unlocks the doors at 7. I arrived at 7:05. I’m SIXTH on the lab list. Are these the same people who camp out to buy concert tickets?? At least there’s wi-fi. And it’s not cold enough to require me to run the car for heat. (Lab patrons have to wait in their cars to be called.)

Is this a foreshadowing of my day??

They come in a heavy plastic bag and they freeze beautifully. It takes us a long time to eat a dozen bagels, but I’ve never had them go bad or suffer freezer burn.

Luckily for us, much of the staff has been here for a long time and can function well without someone at the helm. Also, the facility manager from Chicago will be popping in regularly until the new hire is made. The problem here is that MN doesn’t have reciprocity with other states for this type of position. You have to be certified to work in a senior facility in MN and have five years experience to be the director. It limits the options pretty severely.

Really heavy fog this morning. I can’t see buildings that are a block away.

The carpet cleaner came yesterday and took care of our area rug, then also did our strip carpets in the halls and part of the bedroom where Sadie had barfed and left a stain. Fast and efficient.

Got my stock made yesterday, so I’m armed and ready for stuffing and gravy preparation.

Morning all. Woke up to rain (still is) and laundry (first load started about 7am). Have had my Big Bowl O’Cereal to start the day and have at least 6 loads of laundry to go through, so that will be my big activity for the day. Looks like the bulk of the rain has passed by and it’ll get to 67F later, so not as bad a day as was predicted, but still a good one to be inside. Besides laundry I need to pack for tomorrow’s trip and see if I can manage not to forget anything. Some house-ikr is also planned as getting to the gym is unlikely given the laundry needs.

Cupcakes, that’s quite a gathering. Big pecan pie fan, never heard of chocolate pecan but it sounds good as it has two of my favorite foods in the title.

Nellie, damn, I am glad I do not have Alexa or any other system like it, that does sound right out of some horror/slasher movie…

swampy, hope your laundry day isn’t as long as mine.

FCM, usually I start early (around 7am) and am out of the urban areas for most of it. Nashville is usually the only bottleneck I have, we’ll just have to see how it goes. Of course any accidents can throw schedules for a loop…

boo fae, hope you are feeling better and the drive isn’t too much of a pain.

And load #2 has just been started, so onward with the day. Have a good one.

They’re common at gas stations around here, but I don’t like deep-fried chicken gizzards. It’s not the flavour; it’s that they’re like chewing erasers. Weirdly, gas stations tend not to have deep-fried chicken livers. I love those (too much).

jtc, i’m sorry to hear that your fellow needlework lady passed. tell your stitch and sip group some stories to go with the stash. that helps to keep her memory alive. it is lovely to think that as her items are used, people will think of her.

suntan lotion, how lovely to find a package at the door. little thoughtful things mean so very much.

nelliebly, i hope max’s person feels better soon. the kidney thing sounds horrific.

the first time i heard a brown paper bag called a sack, my mind went to football and sacking the quarterback. i did not want my groceries “sacked”! i caught on rather quickly.

baker, that is quite the gathering! may everything go well.

it was the worst of mornings, it was the best of mornings…

good news: sore throat is not sore any more. met my neighbour dog this morning for pets and fur ruffling, which led to meeting a new dog and having more pets and ruffling.

eh news: the blocks around the condo are insane! our building shuttle was running 10-15 minutes late. i decided to go to the corner and get a septa bus. as the septa bus pulled away the shuttle was 2 blocks away. ah well, stay on the bus. it took 10 minutes to go one block. got to work 9 minutes late. usually i’m 15 minutes early.
though the sore throat is gone, last night as i was going to sleep, a cough tried to happen. i stumbled into the kitchen and got nyquil. now i am super groggy. i should not be operating any type of machinery. gah!

The view from my window:

Veggies are all cut, bagged, and prepped for Thurs. Well, except for the sweet potatoes, which will be baked. I can wrap them while the turkey is finishing up and pop them into the oven when the bird comes out. While doing the veggies, I discovered that Otis doesn’t like celery, but he does like radishes and the stalks of broccoli. And, of course, carrots.

FCD wanted brown-n-serve rolls but I couldn’t find any - at least not in any of the bread displays or on the endcaps. However, I did get a bag of frozen yeast roll that are supposed to take 7-10 minutes to bake. Wonder if they’ll be as good as the Texas Roadhouse rolls?

I think I’ll do the pumpkin pies today - they’re too complex for the grands to help with. I’ll let them give a hand with the brownies - especially decorating with M&Ms. And I think they can help with the dressing if they’re so inclined. Plus Tobias likes to set the table - he’ll start from an empty table tomorrow. We’ll see how he does with the tablecloth and runner (unless I put the runner on the counter) and the placemats.

So there’s the plan. So far. Till it changes.

Mornin’ all.

It’s 37°F and cloudy outside. Rain is expected to begin around 9:00 a.m. and continue all day and into the night. Our expected daytime high is only 44°F.

I stuff the turkey with stuffing and bake the remainder in a casserole dish. I’ve always done this, and will continue to do so. I had to double-check that I had onions for the stuffing/dressing, and was relieved to see that I did. Sauteed onions, celery, apples, pears, dried apricot, craisins, sage sausauge, and seasoned bread crumbs/cubes, and stock, of course.

Nellie, I’m glad Max’s owner is back home, and hope the nephrologist can help her out. The Alexa thing is rather creepy. It made me think of the Twilight Zone episode with the murderous doll.

I do not have Alexa. My TV is Alexa-compatible, and I can use the voice search function, but I don’t have a standalone Alexa device. I use Google Calendar for reminders.

Nothing is exciting on today’s agenda. Maybe some floor washing, and definitely some rollsucking and dusting. I’ll make one last dash to the grocery store for fresh vegetables and bakery croissant dinner rolls early tomorrow morning. My son is bringing dessert, so I don’t need to worry about it, and he’ll arrive at our place tomorrow night, well after dinner. I’ll be sure to have something he can warm up if he’s hungry.

Boo Fae, I sure hope you’re feeling better in time for your drive tomorrow. Whatever crud I have is still hanging on in the sinuses just enough to be annoying. I don’t have a runny nose, but the sinuses are still somewhat stuffed. I hope whatever you have goes away quickly.

Alrighty, I guess that’s it for now. You all take care of yourselves, please.

Supposed to start snowing by Thurs morn. Hopefully I can be picked up for dinner.
A church is also having a free community thanksgiving dinner tomorrow at 2.
I may be turkeyed out.
Going to cardiologist tomorrow to see what up with the delta waves and slow resting heartbeat.

Happy Tuesday everyone. It’s been quiet and uneventful here, at least until last night. Someone banged on my front door loudly around 10pm - I thought the door was going to shake open they hit it so hard. I looked out of windows and never saw anyone or a stray car in the street, so I’m hoping it was just a prank or someone realized they were at the wrong house. So like Nellie I spent the night in bed imagining the worst (but seriously, that Alexa thing is waaaay creepier).

I’ve got a Ring alarm system but no outdoor cameras. With all the sales that will be going on I think I’ll see about getting one or two to stick up outside just for peace of mind.

I’m on mobile so can’t really respond to everything that’s gone on, but has anyone heard from @missred ? She hasn’t posted in a while, and her last post was concerning.

Isn’t that part of the appeal of your weather app, the creative rudeness?

I somehow don’t picture them even thawing in 7-10 minutes in the oven.

The power went out at the orifice last week, knocking out the connection to my desktop computer. An IT guy tried to… do something. I knew he couldn’t do anything with a powered-off computer, and I tried to gently suggest he not do anything. Well, my desktop computer is back up. (There’s no one in the orifice Fridays or Mondays.) And now I cannot connect to it because of the attempted ‘fix’ last week. Good news: I can wait to run an Easytrieve. (And transitioning my data to Tampa starts next week.) Bad news: Tomorrow is a short day, then there’s two days off and the weekend, and…

A different IT guy just emailed me to accept a call.

Somewhat less irksome work today. They had a bunch of cars in for the Seasonal Support Driver training, so I was careful walking out. Although I do wonder, if I’m crushed by an SSD off the clock but in the building, would it be covered by Workers Comp or Brown liability policy? Also, no car crashes today, although the person in the silver hatchback that did a left turn on red, then turned right from the left lane in front of an SUV was sure trying to win a Darwin Award. Naptime!

oh well.

Very dense frog.

I dunno - that’s what the directions say. I did open the bag to squeeze the excess air out so I could fit them better in the freezer, and they’re not really big - maybe 2" X 3" - about 1.3 oz each. If they need a little more time, it’s not a big deal. We’re having a grazing Thanksgiving, not a sit-down-all-together-at X o’clock meal so they’ll be ready when they’re ready! Provided I remember to set a timer and don’t let them become extra-crispy. :open_mouth:

There are 2 pumpkin pies in the oven, or they will be pies when they come out. At the moment, they are 2 pie plates with unbaked pie ingredients. The kitchen smells good, tho. And the ribs seem to be coming along. In about an hour, I’ll fold the foil over each half rack and let them finish. Then they’ll go into the fridge. On Thursday, I’ll bring them out to get to room temp, then put them in a low-temp oven to heat up.

So that’ll leave me free to deal with the grands tomorrow with minimal chores to be done - chores they can help me with. And if they don’t want to help. that’ll work too. I’m going to do the low-and-slow overnight roasting. The bird will go in the oven around 9 or 10 Weds night and it should come out about 12 hours later. That’ll give it time to rest before getting hacked up.

I’m so organized - which means a tree will probably fall across the roof about the time the turkey is done roasting. Keep a happy thought, right?

OK, I’m back connected to my desktop. I will bet that there will be a power outage over the long weekend.
