God Damn CNN

Fuck them. Fuckidy fuck fuck fuck. Putting a “Breaking News” red banner up on thier page today. I almost threw up. Bastards.

fuckers

???

Well, that’s the worst OP I’ve ever written. Hit submit instead of preview. I had just finished reading various 9-11 stories, wandered over to CNN, saw the breaking news banner, and assumed the worst. Not a big deal, I know, but it pissed me off. Guess I’m just a little jumpy today. Sorry for the waste of bandwidth and all that…

Well, it’s gone now - I’m assuming lightingtool saw the banner earlier, and thought terrorists were at it again…
That would have scared me as well!

Yeah, I’ll like to add a few more ???

For those of coming in late, what did the banner say?

jesus, I need to refresh my screen more.

The banner was in reference to this story.

Yeah, I’m a doofus.

I thought it was going to be this one, which was under the aegis of “Breaking News” earlier (in my email):

“State Department warns of “increased indications” that al Qaeda is preparing attacks on U.S. interests to coincide with 9/11 anniversary.”

I stopped visiting cnn.com partly because of those ridiculous red banners. Mostly I left because of the pop-ups, though.

Try http://news.google.com. You’ll never go back. The stories are computer-arranged by popularity; you can make your own decisions on how excited to get about each story. No red banners.

Why actually go to CNN when they will email you the news for free?

Don’t feel so bad. Last month, someone started a thread about the anniversary of the atomic bombs being dropped on Japan. I thought it had happened again. My basic thoughts were;

WHAT THE HELL!

Since when was the US mad at Japan?

Why can’t I find the story on any of the internet news sites?

Now THAT’S funny Gjorp.

You don’t like the popups (who does?) and like Google? Then why don’t you use Google’s new toolbar, which blocks popups? Then you can go to CNN.

Don’t worry. I was pretty jumpy today. I was even crying this morning and almost burst out crying when they were paying tribute on the radio. Watching CNN made me cry also. It just hurt a lot, even though I wasn’t directly affected by it in that I didn’t lose any loved ones.

I think that CNN did lose a member, and I think PA’s governor lost his dad. (I’m not sure on that. Any PA Dopers know if Gov. Rendell lost his father in the terrorist attacks?)
