God-Damned mother-effing coward Spaniards.

I agree that it was indeed well planned and well executed. My post was in regard to a previous one that snidely suggested the war on terror hadn’t accomplished much since this has happened. I’m sure that if we (and most of the rest of the world) weren’t cracking down as hard as we can on terrorism, that compared to everthing that would have happened as a result of letting it run rampant, what happened in Spain would hardly even make the news.

Repeating what just got lost in the ether:

  1. Does anyone have actual polling statistics from Spain? I’ve heard contraditory claims on what the polls said in the last couple of weeks and, especially, on March 10th.

  2. www.wikipedia.org says that the PP won 101 seats in the Spanish Senate, as opposed to 81 by the PSOE. This is a larger margin than the 164-148 margin that Wiki claims the PSOE has over the PP in the House of Deputies. This, one can point out, suggests some sort of a “stopper” over any policy decisions made by the PSOE, seeing as how the Senate would also have to approve of any possible legislation.

Of course, this won’t be popular, as I’ve failed to utter a single barnyard obscenity nor have I called anyone “evil”, but I might as well give it a shot.

(1) Do you seriously think that al Qaeda give a rodent’s patootie which party is in the majority in Spain?

(2) Do you seriously think that the Socialists–ignorant though they may be when it comes to all matters economic–are going to be pushovers when it comes to terrorism?

(3) Do you seriously think that the thing that supposedly pissed off al Qaeda–supporting the war against Iraq–has a goddamned thing to do with the fight against al Qaeda?

(4) Do you seriously think that all those millions upon millions of Spaniards who showed up in the streets two days ago to protest againt terrorism are a bunch of fucking cowards?

(5) Just how retarded are you, anyway?

Correction. The PP holds 102 Senate setas.

Now, now, Minty, be nice. Muad does live in the Greatest City In The World, after all.

Is it possible that they decided, in light of the recent attacks, that the Socialists could better combat the terrorists? That this was, as others have speculated, the straw that broke the camel’s back? No, of course not. In Muad’Dib-land, the people of Spain made a conscious choice to vote the way the terrorists wanted, and voted that way for no other reason.

So cower and do as I say, sheep!

Oh, this is interesting! The new Nazi doper doesn’t like Bush. Well, if you believe anything he says, that is. He also says he isn’t a Nazi.

I would have thought that the Bush family had friendly ties with the Spanish fascists in the past…

Anyone ever read or seen The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie ?

A couple of things though…

I would be surprised if a country that has its own homegrown and pretty nasty domestic terrorist group did NOT get it blamed by its government at first, especially since recent police busts had shown they were appearing to be getting ready for another strike. I also have the feeling that, if the PP had claimed right away that of course it was Al Qaeda, many of the same people in this thread would be claiming that they were trying to deflect blame from other Spaniards to the bogeymen of the War on Terrorism.

Secondly…if it was AlQ, and they deliberately struck three days before an election–what exactly was their aim? How do you think they wanted the vote to go?

…and isn’t it not kosher to physically threaten another poster anyway? Maybe it doesn’t apply in this forum.

Well, there you have it: A vote for Kerry is a vote for Nazism.

No, you’re quite right. Threats of physical violence are seriously frowned upon. Not to mention kinda pussy, given the anonymity and all. But the mods can tend to that sort of thing if they feel it’s over the line.

Wow, them Spanish is exercising democracy. Whaddya gonna do?

Gee, what if this thing catches on, like say in Iraq?

Fact is, this isn’t about terrorists - it’s about people voting. The leader of the Socialist party says his #1 priority is fighting terrorism. I wish I had a leader like that.

“They say if democracy takes off in Iraq, they might try it in Florida!” - paraphrased from John Stewart

I didn’t realize that physical threats were strictly forbidden here… I didn’t seriously mean what I said , but I’m sorry if I broke the rules.

February 15, 2003: 1,300,000 people march in Barcelona and 660,000 in Madrid against the war in Iraq. Protests take place in every major city in Spain.

Conclusion: The Spanish oppose the war in Iraq.

March 12, 2004: 2,000,000 people march in Madrid and 1,500,000 in Barcelona against terrorism. Some 11,400,000 protestors march across Spain - more than 25% of the national population. In several regional capitals, the number of protestors actually exceeds the population of the city.

Conclusion: The Spanish aren’t particularly big fans of terrorism either.

So, either the Spanish changed their minds about defying terrorism four days after the largest mass protest in world history, or else it may have something to do with another opinion previously expressed in the second-biggest.

I know where the smart money is.

Oh, and que te vayas a joder, cabeza de mierda. If someone had said anything one-fifteenth as obnoxious after September 11 as that horse shit you spewed, they would have had their ass handed to them in several pieces. I can’t even begin to fathom the depth of ignorance and disconnect from the goddamned species that it would take to hold such an opinion, let alone to state it.

It’s all’right. I know that you did not really mean it.

Well, I stand for what I said, asshole.

What you guys don’t realize is now that we had September 11th, us in the States know all about terrorism, so we obviously know how to fight it. Europe doesn’t know our pain.*

*This is sarcasm.

Sorry Cid Viscoso I forgot to reply to that.

I should say that as a general rule I don´t meddle with other countries internal politics, but since you ask me for an opinion, the only thing that could be drawn from this terrorist attack is, IMO, that the “War on Terror” as carried out by the Bush administration not only is not working, but it´s making things worse.

God damn it. I’m not going to bother to copy and paste what i said there over here. Needless to say, i disagree with the OP.
