Ok folks, am I high, or did Mr. Dunham used to have a cowboy dummy/figure/alter ego that was much more clearly a puppet, seemed to be made out of sponge material?
Tristan, you might be thinking of Ronn Lucas, who has a figure called Buffalo Billy which fits your description.
I’m also a bit of a Jeff Dunham fan, having discovered him in the past year. And I must be in the majority by not caring as much for Peanut.
As I do not have Comedy Central, does anyone know if this Jeff Dunham show is up on an internet site yet? (Let’s stick to legal ones, please).
I think he’s a decent ventriloquist and his standup routine is good for a few laughs, but I honestly don’t see how it could be turned into a comedy show. There’s just not enough material there behind some thinly-veiled stereotypes.
Of, in other words, it’s just like any other sitcom and will run for years.
I love Jeff Dunham and have been a fan for yeeeeears! I watched the show last night and it was horrible. There is no way he will be able to sustain a weekly half hour skit show. Hell some of the material he does in his standup now is 20 years old. I’m afraid The Jeff Dunham Show is going to be deleted from my DVR lineup tonight.

I know if I’m going to like new people if I do that and they get it.
I love Je-fa-fa DUNHAM dot com and I thought the half hour show was pretty good but I also do not see it lasting. It looks like it’ll be like Demetri Martins show in that a couple episodes are fine but then it gets monotonous.
I’ve been to one of his live shows and his pre-puppet routine is very good as mentioned up-thread.
You are me. I watched and was all “meh.” It’s just not working. I might give it another shot, maybe it was suffering from first-show-itis. What WAS the purpose of the Peanut skit - just to have an excuse to have Brooke Hogan on?
I remember seeing him back then too and howling when he used Walter to tell a story about why there wasn’t (then) any blue M&Ms.
“It would be like eating Smurf poop!”
Just type Jeff Dunham into youtube, lots of previous material and lasts usually about five minutes a clip.

I’ve YouTubed Duham for quite some time, think I’ve seen all the old material already. Was mainly interested in seeing the new show, but if I have to wait I will.
