God of War 2

Yowza. This game is awsome. I’ve only been playing for a couple hours but the battles have already surpassed GW1 in size. The sequences on the Pegasus are amazingly done.

If you liked GW1 you will love GW2.

Anyone else playing it?

What game system?

PS2 like the first, I believe. My roommate has bought it, but, alas, in the shrink wrap it still sits. I can’t wait to check it out.

Dang. No one else is playing this game or what?

I’m going to buy it this week. I’ve been looking forward to this game for a long time, just didn’t have a chance to get out this past weekend to buy it.

I’d like to play it, but it’s going to be a little while before I have time.

I’m playing the game right now Stinkpalm, but I’m a bit reluctant to keep up to date on a thread like this, because I don’t want to spoil any of the surprises for myself. I do think that for anyone that enjoyed the first iteration, God of War 2 is a must play. They’ve added some pretty cool boss fights, and some new weapons (they’re neat to play around with, but I still haven’t found that any are actually better to use than Kratos’ main weapons.)

Now that GoW2 is out, should I buy GoW1? I haven’t played either.

So it really is as awesome as Gabe and Tycho make it out to be?

I just inherited a PS2 and Googled “best PS2 games” to see what the consensus pick was.

Absolutely beyond any shadow of a doubt, “God of War” is the consensus pick as the best PS2 game ever. GTA San Andreas is a distant second, FFX third.

If God of War 2 is nearly as good as God of War, it’ll be amazing. That much consensus can’t be wrong.

I beg to differ.

Yes, yes you should. It is the pinnacle of awesome.

Ive got a copy on order waiting for me at home, but I probably won’t get to it until summer, but man I played the demo and what I saw of it, Gabe and Tycho are dead on, the first level is insane, I can’t wait for the rest!

Could somebody please explain explain breifly how to play God of War. I own the greatest hits of the first one and something just isn’t clicking with me. I never got past the first level and it’s not that I’m new to gaming.

Is it supposed to be played like a rhythm game? Am I just suppsosed to have quick reflexes? Button mashing? If it’s about discovering button combos I’m pretty much screwed, I could never get into fighting games because of that.

The game is so nice looking and epic I really want to play through it. There’s just something I’m not getting.

It’s not really so much about discovering combos. All of the combos available to you, and there aren’t that many, are laid out somewhere in the start menu (hit start and scroll through the various menus with the L1 and R1 buttons and the combos are listed somewhere). I tend to use mostly quick/longer ranged attacks (the square button) and a lot of rolling away/evasion with the right analog stick. The stronger attacks (triangle button) seem to take too long for me and I tend to end up getting whacked by the baddies before recovering from them, so I usually avoid them.

If nothing else, I think the game is worth playing through on the easiest level just to be able to play through the storyline.
