This is very odd but I have a semi-decent thing to say about Pat Robertson in that he apparently expressed misgivings about the Iraq war to Bush and warned him about casualties.
OK, never mind Robertson’s goofy schtick about the Lord speaking to him. That’s nothing new for Pat and at least in this case the Lord told him something that turned out to be true. I also give credit to Robertson for having a conscience about the Iraq invasion.
But as to Shrub…man…what a colossal asshole. “We aren’t going to have any casualties?” That’s all he had to say? Is that how this guy operates? Just declare that something is so and that makes it so? So let it be blathered, so let it be done?
What am I talking about? Of COURSE that’s how he operates. There is no such thing as reality. There is only the fantasy world of GWB. I wonder if anyone’s told him about all those casualties or if they all just humor his delusions.
Is it wrong for an agnostic to pray for someone to lose an election?
A lot of people will insist that Robertson is being decieved, as surely God could not give contradictory messages to these two strong mean of God.
I had a woman at work tell me she is voting for Bush because he is leading the nation according to the Will of God.
These people cannot be swayed, cannot be convinced, cannot be steared away from their blind faith allegence to a man just because he professes to speak with Jesus.
The number of 8,000 wounded seems a little low. And it doesn’t include the over 10,000 injured, sometimes critically, in accidents. The last I heard, the Pentagon does not even list their names on their website despite the fact that they were injured in service to their country.
Bush just puts his hands over his ears and makes loud, weird noises and says, “I can’t HEAR you!”
It isn’t really a denial by Bush, it’s Bush whore and professional liar, Karen Hughs saying that she’s “certain” he never would have said that. What kind of chickenshit, qualified, non-denial is that?
Hughes, of course, is the same woman who denied to Tucker Carlson’s face that she had ever heard Bush swear, when both her and Tucker had heard him swearing at the same time. She transcends lying.
Now she’s denying that Bush ever said something on the basis of that she’s never heard him say anything like that. Apparently, she is in his prescence at all times… but just isn’t allowed to hear anything.
This is, indeed, the very DEFINITION of political dynamite. You’ve got a huge leader of the christian right effectively doing that ‘more in sorrow than in anger’ thing about how he tried to advise the President but he didn’t listen. This ain’t quite up there with live boy/dead girl but you can see it from there.
Bush can ignore it. Kerry pounds on this.
Bush can admit it. He looks overconfident and callous of soldiers lives.
Bush can deny saying it. He ends up appearing to call Robertson a liar two weeks before the election.
So the best thing is a non-denial denial by an underling. That’s what they’re there for, after all.
But if I was Kerry I’d milk this for every ‘soften the Christian right’ moment I could get.
True, dat. The only way this could really play worse for Bush is if he got caught in bed with Ralph Reed (America’s only fundamentalist Christian Howdy-Doody impersonator…)
So Robertson believes Bush is blessed by God? Not surprising, considering the source, but it’s disturbing how many people believe the same thing, per MeanJoe’s post. Apparently, Bush and Co. receive direct communications from above.
