Point taken. I hate the obstructionism. There’s no real debate anymore. I wish there was.
People that voted for Bush for a second term are probably not going to vote for Obama for a second term. Idiots!
You are not a supporter of medical marijuana because YOUR ‘allergic’ to it? I imagine there a lot of prescription medication people are allergic to that gasp still have no problem with other people using them. You should try voting for the interests of another individuals every once in awhile, especially if it has no effect on you.
It takes a really interesting perspective on life to read “Things I support: legalization of marijuana” and think it means opposed to.
My fault, I read his post wrong.

I’m a little quick on the trigger after getting into a debate with a woman who was claiming that some coach in California who let his students smoke wouldn’t have been able to if marijuana wasn’t legalized. I don’t smoke myself, however, my mother is on medication that stifles her appetite and the only way she is keeping weight on is through marijuana.
 I was voting based on foreign policy. He really let me down on economics.
And, you can stop with the Bush! Bush! Bush! crap. I believe my voting record shows that I’m not locked into any particular party.
I think it was probably the foreign policy stuff that confused everyone. You were still in favor of the invasion of Iraq by 2004?
I was dubious, but willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. We invaded in March of 2003. “Mission Accomplished” was in May. I thought we’d be out of there soon. Seems I was mistaken.
Let him speak at Obama’ inauguration.
Okay, I can live with that.
It sounds like the OP needs to vote for Obama, and dispense with the nose holding:
*Gay marriage (I’m straight), legalization of marijuana (I’m very allergic to it), open access to birth control (I’m male)… health care reform (how much?!) * Hmm, really tough call on these…If you are deaf, blind, and stupid I guess! As for the price of health-care reform? We pay more for health care than any industrialized nation, and have worse outcomes than even many third world countries. We can afford this because it is cheaper than what we have now.
strong national defense (former Army) Dude, last time you voted for the guy that said he would never violate Pakistani sovereignty, even if it meant letting Osama escape. You also voted (twice!) for the guy that let him escape to Pakistan in the first place…yeah, that same guy that said catching/killing Osama didn’t matter and wasn’t a priority.
- “Well, I’ll enforce some of the laws,” *You must feel great about voting (twice!) for the guy that set the all-time record (by a wide margin) for signing statements.
Social Security/Medicare reform (is my son paying for something he’ll never receive?) The economy has done better under Democratic presidents, and average wages have been higher. This improves the revenue side of the SS equation, helping to insure solvency. Which party thinks we should do away with SS, and instead have everyone gamble on Wallstreet? Which party is most likely to ensure that Fat Cat pay is mostly exempt from FICA? Which candidate thought letting GM fail so that GM employees couldn’t pay FICA taxes was a great idea?
election reform (stop purchasing elections). Every Justice appointed by a Democratic president voted against Citizens United.
the 2nd Amendment (yeah, try and take 'em) The Democrat party took a drubbing over this in 1994, and it probably tipped the scales in the 2000 presidential election as well. Gun control has largely been placed on the back burner. Eric Holder floated a trial balloon over restoring the AWB early in this presidency, but it got pretty quickly shot down. (see what I did there?) The NRA and Fox News are pushing an elaborate and improbable CT regarding Fast & Furious. If you can’t see what bullshit that is, then I don’t know what to say. Regardless what Obama might dream of doing regards second amendment issues, he is well aware he can kiss the rest of his agenda goodbye if he pursues it. Expect vague homilies to appease the left and no action here. Mr. Obama’s record of action on gun control has been to make it easier to carry in national parks, and make it possible to transport guns on Amtrak. He also did not promote any legislation to extend the AWB, instead allowing it to expire.
secure borders (there ought to be some benefits to being a citizen) Under Mr. Obama’s leadership, deportations are up. Way, WAY up! The Benefit of being a citizen is that you get to buy cheap lettuce and the people who pick it for $5 an hour stay out of your way and don’t make much of a fuss, lest they be among that record setting deportation statistic.
Write in Lord Sutch.
I agree with this.
See what I said about Bush earlier.

cough Carter cough
I support raising taxes to support SS. I’d also support giving me control of my SS money. I believe I could use it to my advantage better than giving it to the government and gaining no interest.
Okay. No Citizens United. But then no Move On.org, either.
I’m not very concerned about this right now because there isn’t any real danger or immediate threat to ownership.
But they’re here. If they were here legally, I wouldn’t care. In fact, I’d enthusiastically support them. But, given the recent changes, how long will it be until there is a court case allowing illegals to collect Social Security? I know, I know…“This isn’t an amnesty or a pathway to citizenship.” Riiiiiiight.
Heh. He might have a problem since he wasn’t a natural born citizen…and the fact that he’s dead.
This is the Moderates plea this year. I feel your pain. I am looking off ticket voting
What did I do to deserve damning?
Feeling disappointed at all? I had some hopes for him, realized the difficulties he faced, but only now in re-election season is he showing the political skills I’d hoped he’d use towards his stated goals. If my vote counted, I’d vote for Obama again, the choice is clear. But I don’t know if he’ll be any more effective in a second term.
Whatever. It’s your fault.
